another day another dollar spent, as they say. well, the day is actually just beginning and so fa so good. a bright sun is always a nice way to start the week, especially when they are calling for wet days, which will be nicely appreciated-maybe we'll eliminate some of the dust from these dry prairie streets and be able, once again, to smell the blossoming lilacs.
on the train to work today i was approached by three of my first nations friends. they were all pleasantly drunk, as they usually are this time of the morning. they poked me with their fingers hoping i drop change like a fleshy gumball machine. but my pockets were as bare as the sky is vast. they poked me a bit more, just for fun, they said, and parted on the victoria park stampede station.
i enjoy these little talks....
after they were gone a 'gentleman'-of distinguished tastes-commented on the degradation of my three friends, to which i responded by shooting him a fiery glance and saying, "well, at least they know their place and can smile even though they live in complete poverty..." this gentleman didn't have much to say after that. picking up his cell phone he decided to talk annoyingly loud instead and i realized that his company is not as enjoyable as those who, though they smell heavily of lysol and big bears, can greet you with a smile, no matter their station in life.

I hate it that people always assume that you must feel the same way about things and openly make ignorant comments without any understanding of what they are talking about or who they are talking to.
