What makes you cry?
The summer is dead, thank god. The humidity in this town is unbearable.
I'm back in school and I'm excited about the whole prospect, the summer gives you too much time and no responsibilities, you left to you own devices. I don't like that, I like my life to be structured around a schedule, with things to do all the time.
I will guarantee that I will shamelessly refute everything posted above once I start writing my first paper.
My classes are pretty plain, nothing extraordinary, with the exception of an Experimental Film and Video class, which succeeded with flying colours with it's first impression. I'm going to be doing a lot of short films, according to the syllabus, most of which are very interesting.
The first of which deals with sadness in films and why it made us cry. So I basically have to produce a short one minute film that will evoke somebody in the glass to turn on the water works. I'm digging really deep into my psyche here trying to come up with something good. So far, i've gravitated towards two ideas (things that make me sad in my life)
Idea #1: a young woman getting subtly upset and seeing senior citizens stand on the bus, while all the chairs are occupied by teenagers who are too self-absorbed into their cellphones and Sega game gears.
Idea #2: One shot, completely static. A girl sitting in a chair about to eat a sandwich she had wrapped up for lunch. Right before she eats it, she'll get a phone call, she says hello, but does all of the listening. We don't know who's calling her, but after she hangs up she starts to look visibly upset, her eyes begin to well up, she takes a small bite of her sandwich, this is when the tears begin to stream down her cheeks. She wraps the sandwich and puts it back into her lunch box.
Which one do you think is better? more realistic? any suggestions?
Also, while were on the subject, what scene in what movie has made you cry?
I appreciate all the feedback, you are all saints.
