so, thanks to the new health care plan I signed up for with my company (and yet I'm only part-time....BTW, I have had access to health care with this company for 6 years now....eligible after 1 year of employment), I now have a Health Savings Account with over $500 in it....and BTW, the $500 is from a 1-time company donation.
won't complain about that one!
now time to look at possibly getting glasses...I have trouble focusing on anything 6-7 inches or closer to my nose. and the closer I get, the more likely I am to develop a headache focusing on the object. while I can live with no glasses if I need them for close-up stuff, minus well get them with that money in the health savings account, right? now the question is to figure out what kind of glasses will work with my facial structure...so I ask you out there in SG land (you can find pictures of me in my pics tab) what kind of face structure you would say I have (and what kind of glasses will work for me). thanks!
think that's about it...a heroclix tournament in a few weeks....wish me luck in doing better than winning just one game! and taking 0 points in the other 2 games I played! how pitiful was that?

the holidays have come and gone, another year down. Congress and the US Government is still as dysfunctional as always. so some things are staying the same it seems. spent New Years (for the first time in years) with the family for their traditional New Years dinner....mom, step-father, sister and her boyfriend meet some friends of the family for a dinner. I usually end up working...this year I did not. had some nice chicken and shrimp french over linguine. relaxed some, watched the ball drop, and slept. what fun times, huh?
now I'm working on dusting my room heavy-duty. I have gone through a handful of Swiffer clothes already....the dust was pretty extreme. my neighbor pointed it out recently....so time to get that taken care of!
did not break my 2 resolutions for 2012....that being not to kill anyone or die. yeah, I'm morbid, I freely admit it. now I guess resolutions for 2013 are in order...
1. pay off 1, if not 2, "revolving" bill...IE, get one if not 2 credit cards paid off.
2. find a job. the tough part of constant rejection is that you lose the drive to look. got to get this going.
3. work on getting in better shape. always a constant. looking at the fact that my father has diabetes in his family and my mom has both arthritis, limited mobility, and heart disease....I think I have motivations.
think that's about it...might ask for support time to time here to continue with these resolutions. and ideas. thanks!

got scared today at work. cleaning the bathroom....someone left behind a massive BM that would not flush down. yes, a solid mass that would not budge!
and in other fun news, driving home today on the expressway, during a nice snow storm with low visibility, at 10 PM....and the driver's side (cheap, and I did not buy it) wiper blade snapped off. stayed on the windshield, so I retrieved it. that was fun driving home with!
now there are new wiper blades on my Mom's Jeep Liberty....hopefully they should fair better!
somewhat funny conversation from yesterday...
(back story)
due to recent hecticness, we have no holiday decorations up in my house. my step-father asks me if I can find a pre-decorated Christmas tree of some kind to purchase. I worked Wednesday and found a small (about 3 feet tall) tree where I work for about $20. so I set it aside (Wednesday) with a note that I will purchase it Thursday.
I get it home, the tag is on it (my step-father reimbursed me) when he looks at the tag.....
"Holy shit! this tree originally was $89.99! and it cost you $21.22!"
yeah....nice mark down, huh? it was on clearance, and didn't realize that I got the tree for 75% off!
not bad, huh?

been a busy week...and its only Tuesday!
Sunday around 4 AM, my step-father's father passed away. I've known him my entire life and was considered (along with my older sister) a semi-grandchild. the family is odd that they view biology as more important for family. yet the obituary mentions 7 grandchildren.....my step-father has 1 biological daughter, his sister has 2 children and his brother has 2 children. guess my older sister and I were counted.
got up around 9 AM (after falling back asleep) and no one is around. clean up the house some....mop kitchen and bathroom floors (Swiffer Wetjet....clean and disinfect). do some laundry dishes and such....and my Mom calls. my sister is in the hospital.
so spend Sunday there, find out she needs her gallbladder removed. that happens Sunday night.
and I get to work 8 hours overnight.
Monday, my younger sister is flying in from North Carolina, and her flight from Newark, NJ to Rochester, NY is cancelled due to weather. she is given the choice of staying overnight or flying into Buffalo....so my step-father has to drive to Buffalo around 10:30 PM to pick her up.
my older sister got released. she has a tube sticking out of her. its nasty....and its seeping or something. she's sore and slowly moving. and will have to change her diet (bye bye french fries covered in cheese with gravy on the side!)
and I get another 8 hours of overnight.
now its Tuesday, I've slept for a few hours and I'm getting ready for the Memorial Service tonight. the floral manager where I work came in a 1/2 hour early to do a nice floral arrangement from the Grandchildren, using fresh flowers (today is delivery day).
Wednesday is a grave-side service (step-father's parents were both cremated) and I get to work 5 1/2 hours and my younger sister flies out.
Thursday....fuck it, I'm doing nothing!
Friday I work at 6 AM for 4 hours, do shopping afterwards, and then I'm going to my cousin's comic book store and playing Heroclix.
and Saturday.....I'm being anti-social!
yup....what a week, huh? might be around Friday night or possibly Wednesday if anyone is in chat. could be a good distraction. also Saturday is an option.
and to all my Pagan friend out there...what's a good Pagan holiday response to someone telling me "Merry Christmas" and such? yes, I'm Christian..but I really want to throw some customers off a little!
oh, and a new manager where I work...he's 3 feet tall (dwarf) and so far seems to do more work than the other 3 STL's I work with. how sad is that? he pushes more carts and handles more work than someone who's over 6 feet tall.
and how is your week going?
EDIT:
and my sister just went back to the hospital...she's cold and clammy and throwing up. honestly...this week needs to end!

I have now determined that my family does nothing easy.
my step-father's father died today, got the phone call around 4 AM. he left to go to the Hospice care, had to pick up his brother since his nephew (brother's son) was still out at 4 AM (probably drinking). odd since bars close at 2 AM here.
I decided that while things were quiet, could take care of stuff around the house....mopped floors and such, when my Mom called to say my older sister was going into the hospital.
and now she is scheduled to get her gall bladder removed shortly....she has gall stones and the lining of her gall bladder is infected.
what more fun will come our way?

well, holding pattern for my step-father's father. he's 92, Parkinsons in Hospice. his breathing is shallow and he's not eating or drinking anything. yet his heart is going strong!
outside of that, just took a Civil Service exam for Caseworker. 50 questions, went through them all in 45 minutes (including going back and checking everything). so wish me luck!
that's about it....my feet hurt. but buying new sneakers next week....yay!
