"It's strange that words are so inadequate. Yet, like the asthmatic struggling for breath, so the lover must struggle for words."
-T. S. Eliot
"I was about half in love with her by the time we sat down. That's the thing about girls. Every time they do something pretty... you fall half in love with them, and then you never know where the hell you are."
-J. D. Salinger
"Someday, after mastering the winds, the waves, the tides and gravity, we shall harness for God the energies of love, and then, for a second time in the history of the world, man will have discovered fire."
Pierre Teilhard de Chardin
"Life is essentially a cheat and its conditions are those of defeat; the redeeming things are not happiness and pleasure but the deeper satisfactions that come out of struggle."
-F. Scott Fitzgerald
"Every adolescent has that dream every century has that dream every revolutionary has that dream, to destroy the family."
-Gertrude Stein
"It is funny that men who are supposed to be scientific cannot get themselves to realise the basic principle of physics, that action and reaction are equal and opposite, that when you persecute people you always rouse them to be strong and stronger."
-Gertrude Stein
Sojourn urinal
The middle of May, maybe even June. I love to forget the time of year in the midst of the spring re-birth. The winter is always discontent. Trapped and blind in the twillight of the collecting dust, the rain, the hard rain must flush, only the hard warm rain. The beauty of winter not lost; there is a child’s joy in the open landscape, the perpetual trampling stomping boot upon the fresh powder. The red rickety dogwood sticks of lost leaves slumber a cardinal, and his homely brown and orange wife. A blue-eyed cat walks in its own foot prints. The rabbit back-foot a mattress spring coiled like fire-side love-making, a short white fuse. The watchers we come from a family of cancer in an America...
