Holy bejeezus, what a week.
On Monday I got the official news from the Dean of Libraries that my tenure was approved by the university provost.
As of September 1, 2004 I will be a fully tenured faculty member. That's such a huge thing I cannot get my brain around it. Job security for LIFE. I mean, I'd have to do something pretty outrageous to get fired. Plus it gives me all sorts of status in terms of applying for grants and submitting papers to conferences and so forth.
I've just been on a celebratory binge ever since, but I've got to pull my shit together and write this damned paper I have to give in San Francisco next week. But at least I don't have to sweat it anymore. I'm not going to present a pile of crap, but I'm not going to freak out about it like I would have before the tenure decision.
woo-fucking-hoo!
