My new tail lights arrived yesterday! The rear of the tail piece is about 8.5" wide, and these lights are about 4.25" in diameter, so they'll just fit. They're made for school buses so they should be uber bright. I actually considered using a single 7" tail light with separate turn signals, but that would have been too cartoonish...

These lights are huge:

I've decided to make a hugger fender for the rear, instead of using the stock inner fender:

I actually had a pretty productive evening:

Today was the first day I really got to explore the amp.

I'm running it into my Marshall cab. Sounds great!

I couldn't see a tube diagram.

When I took it off standby without my guitar in, it did have lots of hiss.

It has TONS of distortion when the volume's at 5. Then again I'm using Seymour Duncan Pearly Gates and Invader pickups. Trouble is, that was at outdoor gig volume. I'll probably never practice or record at that volume.

On the day I bought it their amp guy happened to be there. He makes rounds to a few different shops so he's only there like once a month. I told him I wanted to walk out with something that day and that I wouldn't if the tubes weren't new, so he put new tubes in.

The output transformer has all four screws. I don't know why it's hanging that way. Even looking at it I couldn't see why other than maybe it jsut got bent that way where the "feet" are.

Turning the knobs all the way up on the bass side and switching the knob to Deep seemed to add a bit more noise but I don't know about "gain."

I bought it for $450. How'd I do?

They had at least 4 of them there that were just kinda laying around. It was actually kinda sad. I just got the least beat up one with the best knob and switch motion.

They did have blackface there but the switches were stuck.

I can't remember what it was called, but I really wanted the one with the vibrato channel. And I think it was like 100w. It may have had reverb too. I can't remember. Ring any bells? But they were asking $650 for it. That was like, right at my max, so I went with the Bassman.

There's no doubt Buddy Rich was a very nasty and unhappy man towards the end of his life.

I'm surprised your former boss got away with something like that. I'd imagine somebody would call him on his bullshit sooner or later.

cool, glad to see it moving along nicely. Gonna take the thruxton to the drags tonight, I'll post about results this weekend. the only stock time I could find was in a magazine test, it ran a "corrected" 13.36. I'd be tickled pink if mine will run an 11.99. A couple weeks ago I had a big homer simpson "doh" moment. when I bought the wrecked bonnie I checked to see if both rear sprockets were the same, and I'm absolutely sure I counted teeth on the fronts also. apparently I counted wrong because I found out online that the bonnies have one less tooth in front, so I went out and re-counted both. yup, sure enough - free upgrade. I gotta remember to to watch the tach tonight, since I'm used to high revving bikes I run straight into the limiter all the time on the thrux.
