whoooeeee! Did you do much changing of shape/volume or is it mostly just smoothing and contouring? Same valves going back in? I think I remember you put new valves in a couple years ago, right? If you're gonna rent that blaster glass beads will put a nice clean finish on Aluminum, it would look more or less brand new.

great work. I have not done anything like that in many years, and you did a great job. The last time I did anything like that was when I rebuilt my 302 from the ground up after a couple of hundred thousand miles. It needed surprising little work, it ran good, I just felt it was time and after I got done, I took it to Germany where it was still running around a few years later after I sold it.

and yeah, I know. I actually don't know what to do with myself when I don't have some sort of ridiculous fatalistic crush.

^^ Sydfloyd with the winning comment!

If you do use an abrasive sort of compound on aluminum it will leave a finish that is conducive to staining, leaves a "flat" appearance kind of like it's porous. Glass beads do more of a shot peening job on the surface, leaves it bright with a compressed surface. However it is argued that a sand or abrasive blasted finish is better for cooling. Some guys abrasive blast the heads and glass bead everything else. A lot of stuff I've messed with I would do abrasive first to cut through paint or crud or whatever, then the glass beads for the finish. So did you buy or rent the blaster? If there's a harbor freight around they've got dirt cheap media, should have beads.

One noodle could feed a family. And one person could eat cross sections of it. That'd be kinda cool actually.

Nice bit of porting and polishing, wish I had the time these days to indulge.
