The frame's about 85% detabbed, but I ran out of sanding disks, so I gotta get some more before I can finish that part.

Meanwhile, I'm test fitting the seat, trying to figure out how best to attach it to the frame so as not to get poked by any bolts...

I called around and found a sandblasting kit at the local Tractor Supply, like $20 and the media is $7 for a fifty pound bag.

you could glass in some angles underneath for mounting tabs. I'd bolt the tabs up to the frame & probably use a bit of epoxy stick to initially fix the seat to the tabs. Then later cover the seat/tab joint with glass? Does the blaster come with a compressor or do you guys have a big one? I've got about the biggest 110v compressor I could find and it's painfully slow blasting for a minute then waiting for five. But I gotta let the elec. box's fuse cool a bit or it blows. Blasting is certainly the best route, but If there's just rust in the nooks & crannies & you're not concerned with a mirror smooth surface in there you could use some rust-mort or similar & paint right over. If blasting the whole frame with sand (cheapest & fast) you will pit it & need to hand sand a lot to get it smooth again. What media did they suggest? My cabinet has been offline for a while, I can't recall if I've used walnut shells on rusty steel or not, but I think they'd not pit the metal as bad but not cut as efficiently. You can re-use aluminum oxide longer than sand, but that's not a concern I guess & it does still pit. You don't so much need to worry about breathing it though. Silica sand is floating silicosis, so wear a mask. wear two. Glass beads are nice for aluminum but futile on rusty steel. Those are all that I've used.

All the work will definitely be worth it in the end. I was kinda hoping the Kawasaki leathers would give me a little boost, but you could be onto something. This patch can't hurt:

I have an identical but green kawasaki one on a jacket. they come up from time to time, but there aren't any on there now. There is a Kawasaki For Women's Lib patch that might be a big hit with the ladies or two different My mama rides a kawasaki ones which are pretty cool.
