"Blog." What an absolutely horrible word. I doubt I'll make any more entries unless they start calling it a journal again.
Human existence must be a kind of error...it may be said of it, "it is bad today and every day it will get worse, until the worst of all happens."
-Schopenhauer

Being instated as an archangel, Satan made himself multifariously objectionable and was finally expelled from Heaven. Halfway in his descent he paused, bent his head in thought a moment and at last went back. "There is one favor that I should like to ask," said he.
"Name it."
"Man, I understand, is about to be created. He will need laws."
"What, wretch! you his appointed adversary, charged from the dawn of eternity with hatred of his soul -- you ask for the right to make his laws?"
"Pardon; what I have to ask is that he be permitted to make them himself."
It was so ordered.

I have seen the moment of my greatness flicker,
And I have seen the eternal Footman hold my coat, and snicker,
And in short, I was afraid

I was watching Miami Ink and I realized two things.
1. If I don't get a tattoo, in ten years I'll be glad that I didn't.
2. If I do get a tattoo, in ten years I'll be glad that I did.
Maybe that's really only one thing, and it isn't just about tattoos. It's a mistake to believe that for every choice there's a right answer and a wrong one, one that will make us happy and one that will make us sad, one that we'll regret and one we'll feel good about. The choices we make shape not just what will happen to us, but also the kind of people we'll become.
Sometimes that means you can literally do no wrong and any choice will be the right one. It's not just that both options are good, only one can be at any given time, but the act of choosing itself transforms you so that you'll be the right kind of person for the outcome you chose. In the interest of balance though, I suppose there also doomed choices where any decision will be the wrong one, and then you're really fucked.

It's good to be back.
I let my subscription expire over the summer since I was stuck with dial-up, but regretted it. I still used SG as my main news/funny shit source, and just couldn't stand not being able to post anymore.
