the status of my life, in pieces:
so, my boss texted me this morning (and the rest of the restaurant staff) to let me know that he was fired by the owners. not only does this suck cause he was a great boss, but i'd say that there's now a 90% chance that i'll be fired before my bday (june 2, for those who don't know). the owners hate me cause they see me as a weird, pierced freak and are itching to replace me. so, that's great.
in better news, i finally got confirmation on my internship for the summer. i will be doing publicity and marketing at William Morrow, which is a division of HarperCollins. you comic nerds will know it as the publisher who put out Warren Ellis' book Crooked Little Vein a year or two ago. pretty rad.
i will also be registering for classes for the last time ever on monday afternoon. this fills me with immense joy. but i'm really pissed that there was a senior thesis class this semester on Literature and Religion and i didn't fucking know it. so now i have to take a class on the Philosophy of Language instead, which is still cool, but not half as good as what i could have had.
i've had an abscess in my lower intestine for about 6 months now. i'm going to finally have ridiculously unpleasant surgery for it on may 20th. i don't exaggerate when i say that i'm not sure how i'm going to have bowel movements for three months. it will also mark the first time in my life when i'll have to be put under for a surgical procedure. oh, mind you that i did nothing to cause this. quod the doctor "it just happens."
lastly, i still have a girlfriend. in the 11 years since i've been out of high school, she is only my third. and she may not endorse public nudity as much as my last gf did, but she's way more awesome by leaps and bounds. course, i'm still only one month deep, so i'm pretty sure everyone says that at this point. still, all is well for now.

for the record, i wanted to put something better. but in past years i've said things that are too believable and then i have people freaking out on me all day because they forget that its AFD. this is probably the first year in my life where nearly everyone actually remembered.

so, i've made a decision. much to the upset of many people, i won't be coming to orlando in a couple weeks like i wanted to. there are several things that factored into this decision, not just my overload of homework. i will try my hardest to come down another time early on in the summer. lord knows i wanted to be there sooner, but its just not in the cards.

i haven't been updating much lately. mostly because during the semesters, i don't really have time for much anymore. my weeks go something like this:
mon through thurs: ridiculously long, 16 hour days of school and work back to back. my dishes pile up. my room becomes a mess. i spend more time showering at the gym than i do at home.
fri through sun: i not only do upwards of 15 hours of homework (i have to do all my homework for the entire week during the weekend because i don't have time during the week due to work), but i have to clean my room. do my laundry. wash my dishes. take out the recycling. so on and so on. i also have to find the time to go out at least once because asking for 6 hours of relaxation time should be a fair request.
its a constant cycle of running myself into the ground and then putting myself back together.
now i know why people go to college at 19. this shit is tough to do when pushing 30.

after peeking into my syllabi to see what my homework load for spring break looks like, i've determined that i might not be able to come to orlando after all. i have, no lie, approximately 600-650 pages of reading to do over that single week. i also have to watch the movie Volver for spanish class which is two hours of time that can't really be shortened.
seriously, my homework load this semester is approaching a level that will soon breach into absurdity. i truthfully don't know if my professors want to educate me or break me. cause i'm pretty sure you can do one without the other.
