I think your way off base here FTR, first off all picking Palin just for the sake of being a woman is partly true of course we all know McCain is going for the hillary voters and trying to appear progressive to Obama supporters. As for her approval rating with women (not that I put much stock in Approval ratings) it's as trivial as her being attractive, and also the media painting her as unexperienced. Now I'll agree she doesn't have the experience of these other females youv'e listed but look at where that has gotten us, I mean seriously, do you really want to give Condi any more power? Snowe, thats a little more rational. But McCain would never go for such a progressive polititian.
Palin is a good politician, smart, and fairly honest. As I feel McCain is as well. I think thats the main reason she was picked. McCain says he pulled her aboard because of reform which may be partly true. You are correct on her supporting federal funding for the bridge, but Once they made other options available. She had a science vessel reclaimed by the state that was to be decommissioned an sold at auction, and rebuilt the boat as a ferry. Occam's razor anyone?
As for the "no-experience" she served on the Alaska Conservation Commission, spearheading the movement for a Natural Gas pipeline, and with only two years in the governers office made the deal a reality with the greatest benefit for Alaskans, a task both of the Murkowski's couldn't accomplish within 10. She did "Stand up to the oil companies" as she claimed at the DNC's, and won. She has established an energy fund for alaskans giving a dividend back on top of our Oil And Gas Dividend. Much needed, considering many Alaskans Commute 15-40 miles a day to go to work. A tax relief fund, (still in Deliberation) taking from the National Agriculture Fund, for Commercial fisherman to help with rising gas prices. She was able to do these things by cutting the irresponsible spending of the Murkowski administration. She has done more for the State of Alaska in 2 and a half years then all of our previous chairholders and governors. (Stevens is Close)
Adressing the succession organization, thats Wally Hickel's deal, A previous governor of ours who has gone senile. Regardless he still has more pull then anyone in the state, and it's just bad politics not to be a friend to him.
Paint Sarah Palin as you wish inexperienced, yes, some are just naturals. Stupid, no, her accomplishments reflect how dedicated she is to her service of the people. Not to Corporations. As for me McCain's foreign policy still scares me, I think I may be forced into voting for the truly unexperienced.
