alright kids, it's time for another movie review corner! first off i will discuss django unchained. so stoked about the concept when i heard about it, and my excitement just grew to the point that i spend the day before the movie annoying everybody by singing the django song. and at first i thought my expectations were about to be exceeded, because the opening was fucking awesome. the style and subject just meshed really well, it was like a big tarantino orgasm. i really loved the blending of culture, that it was a western about a slave that takes place in the south and parallels a german legend. however i think when a film mirrors a fairy tale it is allowed to be simple, which this movie started out as, but the end was so dragged out and overly complicated. and SPOILER alert for whatever reason the biggest villian was made out to be another slave, which was fucking stupid. always weird with tarantino and the racism thing, and the man cannot act for shit, his cameos make me whince. also the soundtrack was close to perfect, but some of it was so wrong, so very very wrong.

then there was the fucking hobbit. holy fuck did i love the hobbit, even though i found a lot of fault with it. i am a huge lotr person, and i was therefore torn on how i felt about the movies many similarities to lotr. i do not think the difference in tone between the books was illustrated enough, and of course some of the re-writing made little sense. a lot of the action scenes had serious issues. and of course i am very confused as to how it is going to work as a whole movie series. naturally some parts were just too cheesy, and i hope this diminishes as bilbo's attitude grows more adventurous and heroic. we shall see what happens in mirkwood!
next time: i reveal that gangster squad is over the top

on the band wagon for last post of 2012. what a rad year! i accepted my mission to chill and party as much as possible, and as a result i don't remember a year going by so fast before. i just turned 26, and the new year is about to start, the year of the water snake. it should be rewarding financially, but i will face a lot of obstacles. a decent set up for the path i want this year to be on. i have surrounded myself through luck with the right people, and now I am the wrong thing. i want to channel the side of me full of all the crazy anxieties, release the crazy and then force it to become the energy i need to change things. i want to trust myself more this year. and i want to work for something, and me wanting to work is fucking crazy. going down into the metaphorical mines this year, hi ho!

reviews of my recent theater experiences: the hunger games is ridiculously overrated and riddled with plot holes. giant dogs are clawing and biting at your legs, and it rips your pants up but doesn't draw any blood? I CALL BULLSHIT! it started out so good and then after all the gym training scenes it starts getting all sappy and retarded and then all the kids die in really stupid ways that somehow seem to remove the brutality from the central plotline, even though it's a major component of the central plotline.

cabin the woods was by far more overrated. it was like a bunch of special effects nerds with zero writing skills cobbled together a movie so that they could show off all the monsters they made up, only those monsters were hella fucking lame. it was boring, it was unfunny but it tried so very fucking hard, and it was not in any way scary. and a giant cobra would make a loud hissing sound, NOT roar like a fucking lion. IDIOTS!

do i just have to watch the big lebowski on repeat for the rest of my life? sheesh

the past 30 days of my life, in chronological order:
-my best, and pretty much only, friend departed for a long trip to chile.
-i moved back in with my mom. back into the one bedroom condo with our three cats. the big plus was that my boyfriend was just up the street till
-we broke up and
-i broke my toe. right as we begin our busiest time at work.

hope i'm due something good soon. maybe it will be the most holly jolly fucking xmas ever. hopefully it will be something better.

had to add, the next day: let go from work for a month, all because i stubbed my toe really hard. awesome!

why do we all talk about how we hate corporations, and then bemoan the death of steve jobs? his company used child labor to manufacture outrageously expensive plastic shit. did you know when steve jobs resummed control of apple in the 90's he abolished all the charity projects the company had? he pretty much went out saying "let them eat cake".

i've been on a bad movie kick lately. it all started with the most amazing bad movie masterpiece of all time, troll 2. seriously, everyone should see this movie! it's not about trolls, it's about goblins from a town from niblog, which is goblin spelled backwards. i could go on. just trust me.
so i devloped this rating system based on all the things this movie perfects: ridiculous story, absurdly terrible acting, and atrocious sets and costuming. of course, it's hard to rate such a movie's "je-nais-se-quois" (sic), but i would say overall "troill heads", like you know, 4 out of 5 heads. whatever, i haven't perfected it. but it's been fun! so far i've watched the room (4.5 out of 5), house of the dead (2 out of 5), and well...that one made us run out of steam a bit. sometimes a movie is just bad and it's not even funny. like the green hornet! ickers.

anyway, anyone have any suggestions?

the thing that makes the second installment (not to be confused with the second chapter) of r. kelly's "trapped in the closet" worse than the first is that r. kelly clearly got some new ideas between the making of the two that created a lack of continuity, resulting in a disconnect with the characters. for example, in the second installment, instead of hiring actors to play certain minor roles, such as rosey the nosey neihbor's husband, r. kelly himself puts on a wig and a fat suit and attempts these parts. also, fewer people are literally in closets.
