hello first world..
i arrived in sydney last night, after a mammoth journey via hong kong, it took around 28 hours from the moment i left my place in jhb to when i arrived at my friends place in sydney.. i was like a dead man walking..
although i have been here before, one tends to look at things differently when you know you are going to be living here. one of the things that is again apparent to me is that we as south africans have learned to accept poor service, violence, dishonesty and corruption as a facet of every day life when it should not be that way. i was walking up from mcmahons point where i am staying to north sydney station today (it was pissing with rain) and i could not believe me eyes when i saw a sign on a lamp post that read "FOUND: IPOD... contact ..." these poster were on all the posts that line the street.. back in s.a you will never see that, firstly, no one in their right mind simply walks around there and secondly, if you are found dead in the road, you are more likely to have your pocket contents stolen than have someone help you.
i've been a little out of touch with SG over the last few days and i'll be moving again next week and i am likely to be offline for a while then..
how is everyone doing?
