It's time for my monthly check-in so that you know I haven't died.

There's really nothing exciting going down here. I spend most of my time watching TV or reading. If you're looking for good books, I would highly recommend anything by Christopher Brookmyre. The audiobooks are incredibly good.

I've also spent a decent amount of time having pointless internet fights with friends of friends on Facebook. I don't know why. I know better. I swear I do. I'm just a cranky, opinionated man sometimes.

It's the NHL playoffs so fuck the Canucks and fuck the Red Wings.

Work is exhausting and my desire to do it is incredibly low but I've got bills to pay. This year has continued to be disappointing. At least there is always more beer.

EDIT: I could watch this all day.

Two months and I don't have a lot to report. The theatre company I work with put on an adaptation of Alice in Wonderland that went very well. It was a shitload of work and a lot of stress but I'm pretty happy with how things turned out.

Work has been busy as hell lately. We had a ton of truck problems which meant a lot of extra work. We're still behind and my boss is in Hawaii which puts a lot of the burden on me.It's stressful and exhausting.

At least I have the internet and hockey.

After two weeks, this year isn't doing much better than last year. So here are some pictures.

With a few exceptions (largely cat and hockey related) this year was a lot of shit from open to close. I'm going to go fill myself with rye and hope for the best. Or Ragnarok. Whichever is more convenient.

Spent the day (mostly) in bed with a fucked up knee. It locked up while I was walking around my apartment and now I'm a limping mess.

Things I Learned While Sitting In Bed Today

- Avatar: The Last Airbender is a pretty entertaining show. Yes, I know it's geared towards 12 year olds but it's cute and I like it.
- CIA redactions are frustrating when you're trying to read.
- I had this adaptation of The Hobbit on cassette when I was younger. I used to listen to it over and over. I found an MP3 copy online and listened to it yesterday/today. It was a lot of fun.
- Just watched a guy get hit in the face with a hockey puck. Jesus it looks painful.
- Sometimes, all you want is shitty Chinese food.

Sitting at home watching TV until the Oilers game starts. I drove up to Edmonton yesterday to spend some time with old friends and watch the Grey Cup. It was nice to see everyone and it was totally worth almost being blown off the highway by the ridiculous wind that swept through Calgary. I picked a good day to be away. The wind ripped some glass off an office tower downtown and knocked down trees and power lines. My place is fine but the cats seemed a little spooked when I got home.


Saw these guys when they came through town on their reunion tour. It was a great show.

The Disappearing Spoon. Great book about the elements of the periodic table. Lots of fun facts and history.

Packing For Mars. Some of the history and speculation on the future of the space program.

The Black Banners. I'm only about 1/3 of the way through but it's a really interesting book so far.

The Hunger Games. It's like Battle Royale but with pageant coaches. I've been listening to the audiobook at work. Still have about 3 hours left but it's enjoyable enough.

If anyone feels like buying me a copy of Skyrim, that would be wonderful. I need something to kill my spare time.

I think a lot of people are having a lot more fun with their lives than I am. Not that mine is terrible. It's just not really what I expected.

A lot has gone on in the last month since I posted. Little of it is worth mentioning.

Tonight I drank a lot of soju and went to karaoke. Drank enough to belt out "Time After Time". Happy fucking birthday to me.

I am currently sitting in my apartment. Somewhere down the block there are people having a very loud argument about someone "getting their fucking money". If Person A "doesn't get his fucking money" he is going to "do what he does". Person B can "ask the police what he fucking does" if he "doesn't get his fucking money". So that's something. I can't see where exactly they are having this argument so I will make a poor police witness when they find Person B.

In other news: worst week of work ever. We're moving into a new warehouse (which is great) but it's adding a lot of extra work. One guy left and another is on vacation so we're short staffed. A new guy just started but it's not helping us catch up that much because we're having to spend the extra time training him. On top of this my knee has been bothering me for the last week or so and it's really slowing me down.
