OK, Hollywood did not burn down - not even close.

But mainly I want to bitch about that lovable psycho: HOWARD K. STERN.

It seems tomorrow will be the finis to this whole guilty-pleasure bit. When it started (that is, when Anna Nicole Smith died) was sick with the Black Plague among flu, and found the whole circus utterly fascinating. Then bizarre. And damned if I did not turn on my TV today and it's STILL BEING DISCUSSED. Even jerk-off Fox News is pondering the thing. Now it's just flat-out irritating.

It's a great example of dumbing down.

At the same time, it just gets more insane. HOWARD is a very bad choice for a child's name now. Consider
HOWARD THE RADIO GUY or HOWARD THE DUCK (the movie, that is).

Who do you think is the most awful Howard of all? Make that the most pitiful. and outright insane....and I do apologize to all the Howards on SG.

HOWARD has become uber-bleak - an utter putz.

Wish I had a cool graphic, but I'm sitting on a curb near Universal Studios.

Seems Hollywood is burning, literally. Of course, Fox News cannot resist a smirk when reporting it (God's wrath and all that). The little Sony TV/cell phones are damn neat.

Seems it's almost over, but everyone is crazed (as they should be) about their homes, paychecks, loved ones....

Anything happen worth noting to you guys? ooo aaa

Well....

It finally took LA's latest strain of Black Plague (flu) to stop me in my tracks and - witrh a grand hurl - decide for insurance to pay for shots and make my laptop my best friend.

Have tons of info to pass on, for what it is worth, and if alcohol doesn't rally me I'll put it up - and how is your Thursday going? biggrin kiss

For a getaway I am going to San Francisco to get away from the general pressure I'm feeling in Los Angeles............NOW i see that the exact same craziness over political war averted is going on there!!!!!!!

Find me a desert island.

Bummer ahead.....just a warning.

Ok? Ok.

My best friend's mother died nearly three weeks ago, and since we now live in different cities, our main communication is EMail.

Here's the thing: it wasn't until a half hour ago I repled. (the MIDNIGHT OF THE SOUL, as Ray Bradbury put it). I was trying over and over to write him something "eloquent" - she was a wonderful woman - but felt the missives were not right. Sounded phoney.

What I am getting at is though I am moody most of the time, I just kept hitting the wrong words.

Until now that is. So: my queston to the group mind is simply "How Do You Cope with Death?" I'm interested. -
really. It can be your own loss or, like this, a friend's.

Morbid blog, sorry, but it IS Alfred Hitchcock's birthday. confused

Getting inspiration from Jordan, who is OK in my book - I am going to share a last-agent letter with youse guys. But read hers first. I'll wait.

(crossing legs. making certain I've called everone I should, drinking coffee, thinking of the possibilities of the latest contortionest SG....)Oh.

Back?

Well here it is: (and this has nothing to do with the sucessful play of the same title)

So I'm one of the last "readers" Paramount ever had - guys and gals who would suggest a book and tell it all in one page for executives who never even look at them, and I zapped in a week an AIP-sort of cheap horror film called BENT. It was at least funny, so I packed it up, sent it to my agent. His reply?

"Thank you for letting us see 'BENT' (which must be what you are). I have told you, you are a terrible writer. Why do you bother me? I wouldn't buy one of your stories if you paid me. Leave me alone. Drop dead. Get lost!

Well he was pretty serious, but the crowning touch was the CC - carbon copies to everybody in Hollywood.

"cc: Robert Evans, S. Spielberg, Sam Arkoff, Roy Disney, P. Bogdanovich, R. Corman, John Milius, R. Ray (his partner), L. Wasserman, J. Calley, Peter Bart........"

You get the idea.

Ah, show biz - ain't it grand?

A joke? Well, I had no agent that day... only picked up my current one a year later. ooo aaa
