Noticed this one one a few other peoples blogs and thought i'd weigh in with a few of my favourite lines from movies,
though now I look at my choices I realise in some cases i've gone more for favourite scenes than just favourite lines, but i'm just going with it, you should too, it'll be fine, and maybe you'll discover something new to watch yourself..
1) 'All these moments will be lost...like tears in the rain' Blade Runner - Rutger Hauer/Roy Batty
This will be a popular one, and its one of my favourite lines/moments from a movie, his whole monologue at the end of the film is amazing, right from his 'I've seen things you people wouldn't believe, attack ships on fire off the shore of orion' through to its sweet end..which was mostly improvised on the day by the actor, perfect..
2) 'What's in the Box????' Se7en - Brad Pitt / Detective David Mills
One of my absolute all time favourite films, I love Fincher's movies, but Se7en especially is just an absolute classic, how its shot, acted, written , the turns it takes, and this immense ending, DON"T WATCH THE CLIP IF YOU HAVEN"T SEEN THE MOVIE BEFORE!! - if you have, enjoy one of the best moments of cinema in the last 30 years. still gut wrenching, still shocking, still intense.
'Whats in the Booooooox"
3) I'm firmly of the belief that all the best writing being done these days, is on TV, movies have had to raise the bar in terms of spectacle to compete with everyone having constant 24 hour access to pretty much any media they want in their own homes and larger home TV's/projectors. Movies jumped to 3D to IMAX and other means of drawing crowds back in, so we get the huge CG spectacle movie, all the more thought provoking, intimate writing, is to be found in TV, so i'm including a few lines from there..
'I'd consider myself a realist alright, but in philosophical terms I'm whats called a pessimist' - /Matthew McConnaughey/Rust Cohle
Uhm, OK, what does that mean? - Woody Harrleson/ Marty
'Means i'm not much fun at parties'
True Detective - one of the best shows I've ever seen, and basically just one looooong movie. utterly spellbinding.
And almost everything Rust says is priceless - here are some of his best moments from the show..
4) 'When Murder goes Wrong! Tom Hardy/Bronson
I really love Tom Hardy's acting, its amazing he's getting huge parts now and loved him in Dark Knight Rises and Inception
but he's never better than when pretty much carrying a while movie on his shoulders, his performance in Bronson is amazing!
This scene plays like a one man theatre show.
5) And jumping back to TV ( well, Netflix) and right up to date,
'I thought I was the Samaritan' - Wilson Fisk / VOncent Donofrio - Daredevil
Daredevil is fucking amazing, its easily, easily the best adaptation to date, it made it really hard to watch the Avengers and feel any real sense of danger or menace from its CG villain after watching Donofrio absolutely slay as Wilson Fisk, this scene is a masterclass, cannot wait for season 2!
That's my little selection, hope y'all enjoy.
