ok so here's a few things that i've decided upon.
first, i think i want to learn the guitar. not so that i'm excellent or anything...just enough to be able to read some sheet music and play the song with a little practice. i've got a friend who writes his own music (and has sold some of it)...i dont need to be that good. just something to pass the time really (my hobby of jeep modification is currently too expensive for me to continue at the moment).
second, i've been weighing out my current job prospects and i think i'm just going to enlist in the coast guard (its not a desperation move, its something i've wanted to do). why the coast guard? well to me it feels that you do a little bit more good than with the usual branches of the military. do a bit of cleaning up the coastline. search and rescue. shit like that. granted i'd probably go something like port security as my first choice...
but what does that mean? it means its a good thing i've already joined a gym to get back into shape. i've started a regimen that involves running 3 days a week, then lifting, and then hitting the tread mill again after and doing just a light jog and then a walk to cool down. then another two days i just do a long distance jog followed by a walk, and then another jog. i've only been at it for two weeks but i already feel a lot better. more energy. more relaxed. i forgot how good i feel during vigorous exercise.
third, i think i want to go back to school and maybe get a teaching degree. however i just think i might want to do that...but i also think its something for later in my life. when i decide i want to settle down a bit.
fourth, and lastly, i was thinking i need to find this place again. it was this abandoned road along a river (could be a stream...i dont know how they are classified...but its big enough to sink my jeep in). it looked like it used to get between these two hills but i guess the river swelled and washed out a chunk of the road and it was unused enough so that it wasnt worth repairing. it starts in this little town with no discernible name at a bridge going over the river with a couple of chunks of road missing. if it wont hold the car, there's a newer crossing a few miles up that will allow me to get over. then i intend to hop into 4 low and grind my way through the wash outs and hopefully there's a good amount of adventure and maybe something at the far end of the road. there's a few abandoned factories in the area...no way of knowing till i go take a look!
anyone want to take a drive with me to find out whats up there (really, i'll pick you up. i'd enjoy the company)? i havent been up that way in 5 years or so...there's no telling if there's even road left up there...or a bridge for that matter. plan b is to go take a drive over to cranberry pond and do some hard core relaxing with a six pack and some tranquility. which may still happen anyways. but right now the plan is to go check it out some time later next week.
