What a night last night. The soccer team that I photograph for, the women's professional team FC Kansas City, won against the Boston Breakers last night moving us up to a three way tie for second place in the National Women's Soccer League. This could be huge, since only the top four teams make the playoffs AND only the top two teams have home field advantage during the playoffs. Besides it was perfect weather for the game last night outside of the humidity, which was so thick you could wear it, seriously. It was that bad. However, I have a good feeling that they have been very impressed with my photographic work over the past five games (including last night) and that they are thinking about signing me on for full time next season. The reason why I think this is because I came into the season with two games already been played at home, and during the World Cup, which was about halfway through the season, but last night, when I got to the press box I found this waiting for me.
That is a BIG deal. There were a lot of other photographers there last night who didn't have a reserved seat in the press box waiting for them. So, that was very nice and a very positive sign from last night.
Yet, without further wait, here are some of the photographs from last night's 3-0 win against the Boston Breakers.
Yet, in other news. Today is a sad day for me. One of my best friends, Michael Powell, will be moving away soon, going from Kansas City to Los Angeles. Today is his going away party, which will happen in about two hours from now (Late afternoon brunch with beer). This will be the last time I will be able to see him in a LONG time, who knows how long. So I am heading out to Raytown Missouri in a half hour or so to go spend a few hours with him before he leaves tomorrow I believe, for his new adventure in life. So yeah...it will be an interesting party.
