college has not been as terrifying as i was expecting. i have not made any friends yet, but there are some people who i seem to get along with. there are plenty of pretty people on my course who'd happily entertain in my bedroom for a while, but i have no idea how they feel about me. this week is all inductions. very boring stuff. next week we start the course proper. another thing to worry over.
tomorrow. i start my degree tomorrow. and i'm being fat and ugly. urgh. however i had lots of fun in london, seeing harriet and going to the barbican to see mum and cat power. i also went on the big wheel thing by the thames, ate too much food, drooled at pretty people, and slept lots once i got home.
My nerves around starting my degree next week are really starting to kick in. but between now and then i'm off to london to see the fantastic mum play at the barbican. i'm really looking forward to it, it should be wonderful.
ny tine is almost up and i must soon leave the magical world of caramelised onion hummus and hugs on tap to return to the land of noisy neighbours and loneliness. joy. however there are some advantages of going home - tweasers! not having to use webmail! not being molested at any given moment by rory!

and finally, my friend had her baby last week, 31st august. as much as i hate babies and children, i am still very happy for her, i know its something she's wanted for a very long time. i may think she's totally mad, but i'm still happy for her.

life is being rather dull right now, which could be something of a blessing - there's an old chinese curse which runs "may you live in interesting times". however soon all will be different - my degree starts in three weeks and from the information i've had about it already, my days are going to be quite packed. so i've been taking advantage of this time by watching dvds. it was donnie darko last night. i didnt realise before quite how gorgeous jake gyllenhaal is, mmmmm.
so i'm meant to be at the festival still. but we had to come home because for some reason, maybe all the dirt and lack of running water or not cleaning my teeth for a couple of days, my cheek piercing became very swollen and the barbell in it was engulfed by the flesh in my mouth. there was no stalls selling body jewellry, i had no others with me, and we were in a tiny town on the english / welsh border, 20 miles from the nearest town and no way of guaranteeing a piercing studio could be found there anyway. so we came home. jewellry now changed, cheek feeling much better (can now smile on both sides of my face!) and curry consumed. hurray for home comforts.
so today i got my a-level result. i got a B, which was what i expected. i did neither very well nor badly. i was just average. which is a good summary for me i guess.
today has been boiling hot and i ate my lunch with andy in the park. i took my shoes and socks off and felt the grass on the soles of my feet. it must have been years since i last did that. it felt good.
