There's this notion about love that has been haunting me these past days. I can't remember where I picked it up, a movie, TV, casual conversation, the back of cereal box… This notion says that the purest form of love, that makes you experience love most profoundly, is the one where the object of your affection is not around. The idea being that this way, the person you love can't spoil the love you are feeling by responding to it.
Having what can be labeled as vast experience with impossible romances and long distance relationships, I can still see the value of this notion and even sympathize with its naiveté, however at the end of the day, I'm prone to thinking it's one of those ideas that works better in theory and loses its appeal when you actually have to live it… like communism, say.
