i bought 4 3day passes for Lollapalooza in Chicago. Aug 1-3. we will ditch the girls at Grammie and Grandpa's and go with our 16 yr old sondawg. his girl will hook up with us there. the buddy boy is sooooo stoked, and that makes me happy. Radiohead, NIN and The Racontuers are confirmed so far. its gonna be sicky cooly neato swell. now we just have to figure out how to hook up airfare and the hotel.
this is "dick in the box"
the head is clay and still has to be glazed and fired. i think i will paint the eyes and teeth as well. the box is made of found steel and junk. i have a pedestal done but i'm still not sure about the height of it. right now the dickhead is at eye level. my class seems to think it would look better if you could look down on him...like a kid would i guess. i put a bunch of gears and hoses and stuff inside that you can't see in these pics. so i think i will cut the pedestal down a bit. my youngest broke my camera playing Americas Next Top Model with her sister, so i got these using my teachers cam. i'm still not sure about the name, any suggestions?
the Dropkick Murphys show was a blast. i went with my son. he likes to get right in the middle of those nasty punk rock pits and i just can't get with that kids stuff anymore. i like to hang around the soundboard nowadays, ( and it sounds better there) so we hook up between bands to give our critiques to each other. by the end of the night he was soaked with sweat. totally made me smile...i used to do the same thing.

these guys were first on the bill, they are from Japan and as we went into the show, they were waiting to bring their gear in the front door. it reminded me of the time a band i was in toured Europe. always first on the bill, 6 people or more in a crappy van, no money, hungry, don't speak the language, no space at the merch booth, and so on. so i bought a cd off the drummer. they were selling copies they burned themselves. true punk rock style. turns out their record is #4 on the charts in Japan and they've open for bands like Metallica. we both agreed they kicked ass.
the two bands after kinda sucked.
Dropkick Murphys were just what i expected. a great party band and they did all my fav songs. next month we are going to see Ministry.
