So, last night I went to a great concept bar in Denver called 1UP. 1UP is a retro arcade bar; it is filled with old video upright video games: Street Fighter II Champion edition, Paperboy, Frogger, Track and Field, Punch Out, etc. You get the point. This place is a haven for Geeks and Hipsters (mind you I have no problems with either since I want to be a hipster when I grow up and I'm a total geek), the Geeks are putting up their quarters to challenge you like back in the day. The Hipsters are just there to be seen, not playing any games just taking up relastate. This bar took me back to a point in my life all but forgotten, the time when you'd beg your parents for some money so you could try and get Bart Simpson past the weird wrestling dude, just button mashing to your hearts content. The moment that really took me back was when the change machine wouldn't take my dollars, taking a moment to unfold the corners of the bill and putting it back in having that moment of anticipation hoping it will work only to have the dollar spit back out.
