its a combo of ferns, mushrooms, and thistle flowers.
can't wait for the colour and shading next time to really pull it all together.

it's still pretty cold up here, but i'll be starting some seeds indoors soon, so i am looking forward to that.
has everybody seen this seed catalog?
SO many crazy heirloom varieties of everything. i am having a hard time choosing which to plant!
unfortunately my hydroponic basil plants had a terrible spider mite and aphid infestation that no amount of neem oil or dr. bronners could stop, so i had to ditch the plants. darn things.
i got my hair cut! i went to the only salon i've ever been to up here, and they told me it had been a whole year since i had gotten it cut. i'm still trying to grow it out from when i chopped off all my dreads. this is two years of growth starting from a pixie cut.

It's snowing!
About 6 inches so far and it doesn't seem to be stopping anytime soon.
Aside from the shoveling, which is a bitch, I am enjoying it immensely.
Got to take my new bike on its maiden snow voyage!
(It is a special bike designed for snow riding)
I named it Xena Warrior Princess.
This photo was taken yesterday before it really started to snow.
The dogs love to play in it too.

Hello world.
Hope everyone is well. A quick update about my school- I finished all my classes and all I have yet to complete is two clinical days next week, and then I am finished! Of course I still have to take the state exam to be on the Minnesota registry, but the end is nigh! I admit I have been so spoiled staying at home this past year that I have temporarily lost the ability to manage my time well- so I'm looking forward to having more free time again, so I can get back on some positive routines.
Since I've been so busy, I haven't been taking as many photos as I normally do, but here are a few!

P.S. In the effort to continue sharing more of Brandon & I's work, here is another functional slide, #2 of the 'headphone' series we did. We only did two in the series, the first one was pictured in my last blog. Brandon did the glasswork, I then wire wrapped the piece, using genuine ruby cabochons in the 'headphones'. A jack and cord was added, and then the whole piece was electroformed (copper plated) in select areas. Feedback is appreciated!

As I mentioned a few blogs back, my better half is a glass-blower and I do random jewelry work and other stuff. I want to start sharing more of his and our collaboration work on here. This particular piece is a functional smoking piece - it is a slide for a tube (bong). Brandon did all the glasswork and I wire wrapped the 'headphones' using amethyst cabochons. The whole thing was then electroplated with copper in certain spots, and the 'jack' hand was added. I wish I had a better photo but I can't find one at the moment!
