In our lives, we try to pull away so many times, but the guides and signs are always there, dropping subtle hints and not so subtle heartbreaks that pull us back to our golden thread.
In this world of deceit and damnation, happiness is a fleating thing. We should not deny it when it's time for it to come; we should not resist it when it's time for it to leave. Easier said than done, I'm afraid. Siddhartha, I am not.
Nonetheless, one should cultivate the art of nonresistance, and strive for an attitude of cheerfully serene detachment where possible. The apparent paradox being of course that detachment is not something that can be gained by striving for it.
Picture very heavy ball. Even being round, it is very difficult to start the ball rolling, but once it is already in motion, we can change the direction it is travelling with a single finger. When we meet a force too great for us to overcome, we bow to that force, and make it our own.
