So this last year sucked for my work - this year needs to be better or I'll be moving out into a cardboard box
. Well, not quite, but you get the picture. I've been trying to get my head round marketing today, which I'm totally useless at! I've been running my business (as a software designer/developer) for over a decade but I've always got work through word-of-mouth. That's gotta say something, I guess, but doesn't leave me in a very good position to know what I'm doing, marketing-wise. Genius developer, crappy marketeer!
Anyway, if anyone thinks they might have something, or hears of anything - get in touch and I'll flesh out the details. I'm just a high-class dev whore - I'll do pretty much anything for the right price tag

So I've been holed away arranging music for a new computer game being developed by the awesome Puppy Games! They make retro-esque arcade games, which are really cool - so go check them out at puppygames.net. It's been interesting - kinda like doing a film score. The graphics designer guy made a little video...
... gotta love it
On other planetary news, SunnyBee and I are off to a party tonight where there will be a totally hot girl who, we've been reliably informed, is into us both in a big way. Woo hoo! So I'm gearing up for some 3-way action and keeping everything crossed that it goes ok. She's a really close friend, so I don't want to wreck anything - but she's soooooooo hot! It'll be a skirmish between lustfull excitement and loving sensibleness, probably for us all, so I guess that's a good start. Wish me luck!
Have a good weekend everyone. xxx

Me playing about in the studio doing an acoustic version of one of my tracks.... enjoy!
Ok, guys'n'gals, I need some help... I'm busily sorting out stuff related to my recent album release and I'm getting stuck on the number one question that I get asked - who am I like? What other bands/artists is my music similar to? I think I'm just too close to see. I know what I like and what kinds of people have influenced me - but that's not the same thing, and (with me anyway) the music I listen to is nothing like the music I write.
So, your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to help me get together some sort of list of similar artists so I don't sound (a) like an idiot because I don't even know what my own music is like, and (b) arrogant because it sounds like I'm saying that "my music is unlike anything you've ever heard before!" which is, IMHO, impossible for anyone to claim at this point in musical history.

Ok, so both Marikee and Soya have pestered me to do another blog - I know, I know, it's been ages - but read on and see what I have to deal with....
In this wonderful age of internet wizardry it's great that we can all be creative and communicative, but it's also shit 'cos once you're pulled into the myriad of social networking sites and gadgets your precious time goes spiralling away into the WWW instead of being used for real-life stuff (bah! humbug!
). I'm sure I spend more time talking about having a life, than actually having one....
So, just so you know that I really am a busy bee after all, here's what I have to keep up with....
My Facebook profile - this is the one I use most. Go search for "Dave Sunerton-Burl" and add me. You'll get to hear much more stuff
My MySpace Band Page for my music. This has what's been taking up most of my time recently, more in my head than anything else. I've just released a new album (yay!) so everyone go be my friend and buy my album. There's details on the MySpace page, or search for "Dave S-B" on iTunes, Rhapsody, eMusic, Amazon MP3, or Napster. I'm still waiting for Amazon to get the CDs on there, but hopefully they'll be available soon for those who love shiny plastic things
I'm on Twitter too, and I'll probably do more on there when I have more than 1 follower
I'm also maintaining a music profile on .iLike - go click that iLike button! There's an iLike tab on my Facebook profile too...
Plus, I run 2 businesses. One of them is boring and involves software design - I'll skip merrily past that one - but the other one is quite exciting. I'm a qualified climbing instructor (check out my bow and it's many shiny strings) and, you guessed it, I have yet another social networking site dedicated to it. So, if you're at all interested in having a go at rock climbing, or if you just want to gawk at my mountainy pictures, go join up at Climb North Wales and check out my other blog! (jeez, that profile pic is awful - must change it!)
So if I don't blog on here enough, please let me off, you know I love you all
...and GO BUY MY ALBUM!!

So, it's all go now. I've been holed away in the studio for what seems like an eternity and *finally* I have some stuff which I'm willing to make public. I don't suppose it'll ever be good enough for ME - I'm far too self-denigrating for that! But anyway, I'm working on a MySpace page today, so hopefully by this evening there'll be a shiny new public portal into the beginnings of the album due out next year....
Fingers crossed.....
Fingers crossed.....
aaargh! just when I get a *whole* day to myself in my studio, I start suffering from a nasty case of writer's block. Not fair!!
I just can't seem to get my head into gear. It's bad enough having so little time - but when the time I do have is spent staring into space and not getting any inspiration, it's just rubbing salt into the wound...
winge, moan, winge, blah, blah, rant....
I'm going for a bike ride. If anyone reads this, send me something inspiring and I'll write you some music...

having spent the vast majority of my life being plagued by a stupid inferiority complex (which, thankfully, I'm totally getting over) it's utterly inspiring to be involved - in some small way - in a place where real people get down to appreciating their own qualities and beauty. thank you suicide girls <kiss>
...and there's even a climbing group....and a musician's group.....my 2 greatest loves (after SunnyBee and our little one, of course!)
Anyway, SG has contributed in no small way to the resurrection of my music writing, so hopefully it won't be too long before I'm posting tracks somewhere for general consumption. Come and see on MySpace as well - I don't have many real friends....!
