One of these days, I'll really get back into this full time. Really. Hopefully this time?
Life hasn't changed much the last time I was around, though I've made some decisions about going back to school. For now, though, it's a waiting game until I can start the application process, figure out which PhD programs I would be interesting in pursuing in the area, then another waiting game until I hear back, then more waiting until it starts.
However, I have made one fairly big decision. For the last month or two before I start, I'm going to travel. Nothing fancy. No nice hotels, no expensive touristy bullshit. Hop on a plane with a hiking bag's worth of stuff, start off in Ireland, and go from there. Stay in hostels or wherever. Visit some friends in the UK. Go from there.
In the meantime, it's work work work, and trying to find things to do in Boston (which is harder to do than you might think when you don't really know anyone, and have a bad habit of being too shy to just meet random strangers).

What's your field?

My wife was a lab tech for a research lab for a bit - which is obviously different than what you're up to, but I'm betting *existentially* similar. She came to really loathe it - it was just too lonely. So she headed back to school. But after an MA, she was more interested in professional school, and is now getting a PharmD.
