First day as manager/head cook/chief bottlewasher yesterday went something like this...
8:45 AM - Set off burglar alarm due to underexplained alarm code entry procedure, the cops were understanding...
11:00 AM - Wondering where the customers were...
11:50 AM - They found us en masse...
11:51 - 2:30 PM - busboy, 1 server, and myself run ragged and get through lunch rush...
1:00 PM - hand over the store keys to one of our musicians so he can grab gear from the office upstairs...
2:00 PM - Realize the keys weren't returned when server needed me to get change from office...
2:05 PM - Find out that the musician had locked the ONLY frigging set of store and office keys in the office...
2:06-2:49 PM - Curse him out...
2:50 PM - Busboy and myself break into office (I'm very talented.) and retrieve keys and a well earned beer.
6:00 PM - Wash my hands and leave to go to Anniversary dinner with Dawnie.
So, how'd YOUR Saturday go?

lessee...it's been awhile.
I got laid off, but started working at a cafe under the table before it happened. Triple dipped the system for a while with severeance, unemp, and underthetable. Tried to find a job in my field. Massive fail. 9 months later, I'm running the kitchen in the cafe, still underthetable, still on the gov't teat, and still looking. For a job. For diversion. For happy. I laugh too hard, I dance too fast. In my band, I play too tense. In my life, I try too hard. Something's gotta give.
Like soon, dude. Y'know?

heading to Chicago in less than 30 hours....anyone know where a fella can see some decent blues and have a decent meal at a decent price in them parts?
OK, it's been since February since I posted anything here. Niobe reminded me of how much of a slacker I am.
Lessee.....well, part of my recalcitrance has been due to playing music. I was part of a 2 piece rockabilly/country/twang music act that played all over south Jersey, Delaware and a couple clubs in Philly between April and November...something like 45 shows...until I resigned right after Thanksgiving due to the fact that the other half of the act turned out to be much less of a human than I'd initially given him credit for.
Other than that...I work...Alot....I took a second job as a server in a restaurant because I love to work so much. I start tomorrow night....so it'll probably be another 11 months before I post again.
I'll try not to space them out so much.

In an effort of self renewal perhaps, or cuz I just love sunrises....we cruised to Baltimore at 3 AM today and climbed Federal Hill, overlooking the inner harbor to watch the day begin.
Not as breathtaking as when we chased the dawn in Shenandoah National Park, or Montauk Point, but lovely nonetheless
