Alright, so here it is. My first blog.
So Saturday I bought a bright red 2001 Chevrolet Corvette Z06. Extremely fast. Fun as hell.
I finally got insurance on it yesterday and began taking some of my friends on a little ride down the road.
In all her excitment Shotgun comes running out of the house barefoot for her turn. Her usual self. I remind her, for the millionth time riding in any vehicle to put her seat belt on and we are on our way.
She begins rambling aimlessy about how this car is alot bigger on the inside than my older Corvette. How its alot wider and that she has endless legroom. Meanwhile, I take the car out on a nice long straightaway, with a 55mph speed limit and slowly bring the rpms up and shift into second.
All the while she's still going a mile a minute about the roominess of the interior, I look over, feign an understanding, as if I was paying attention and without looking awaying as to see her reaction.... punch it.
A cacophony of blissful sound erupts from the engine and exhaust simultaneously. Time and space blurred to a singularity miles ahead. Almost instantaneously Shotgun's face went from an excited expression to one of sheer terror. She made a sharp intake of breath and cluched herself in a ball in the seat and sat motionless as if to wait out the storm, wide-eyed the whole way.
I let off shortly after around 90mph. As the car began slowing down, the thunderous sounds settling back to the hell from which it came, the only thing she could say was, "Holy Shit".
Funny. That's what my dad said too.
