What a day...I just went from working 60 hours a week to working about 30. In Three weeks I'm going climbing in West Virginia, and a week later I go back to class. Ultimate Disc all weekend....
Today I think i'm going to eat some cereal. yep, big bowl of cereal. And some juice. Then I'll go to work for a while, come back home and start running errands. Then fall asleep in front of the redsox game.
nice.
Does anybody else make it a point to NOT watch fireworks on the 4th of July? One good thing about this holiday is that I know where all the hordes of people will be assembled at once so I can abscond safely to a pleasantly peaceful pond or brook. I can't remember the last time I went to see fireworks on this holiday, which really has nothing to do with fireworks, as the meaning of easter doesn't have a damn thing to do with colored hard-boiled eggs. We all know the state of the country right now, there's no need to comment on that... so let this be a day for independence even from the menacing shroud that hangs over this nation like a cheap suit.
there's reason for optimism
Today, the world literally kicked dirt and rocks in my face. Oh how many vile dastards will cry with face in hands as I stand tall and proud despite them.
This is my favorite passage from Edgar Allen Poe:
I heed not that my earthly lot
hath little of earth in it
that years of love could be forgot
in the hatred of a minute
I mourn not that the desolate
are happier sweet, than I
but that you sorrow for my fate
who am a passer-by
Yesterday was ultimate frisbee. This is in my top 5 of all time favorite activities, right up there with hiking, playing guitar, sleeping, and makin' love. I made what was possibly the best catch of my life, flying paralell to the turf at full speed, and skidding about 10 feet through the grass before coming to the stop with the disc.
Then I realized I was out of bounds.
"Men show their charachtars in nothing more clearly than in what they think laughable."
--J.W. von Goethe
Well, I'm back. For those of you who may have noticed...it's been like 2 months since I've been on this sight. I feel like I should blog about something.
What have you all missed...first I got deathly ill, then I had to move...then it took comcast about 6 weeks to get out here and hook me up. Also I finally finished this semester which was a pretty rough one, but it's all good in the end.
More to come.....
