Wow! NIN last night at the Aragon was amazing! We had lunch and took off from Waukesha about 2:30 yesterday... didn't know what to expect for traffic so I wanted to be safe just in case. We arrived by the ballroom probably around 5ish or so. Traffic was bad in spots and there was a crapload of construction going on. No one was around the aragon at that point so we decided to go right down the road and chill by the lake (chill indeed, it was like 55 degree out.. summer where are you??). Sarah mentions we should eat something, so we hit up a jimmy johns and after that head over to the ballroom as the doors open at 6:30. We drive past, and OMG it was crazy busy. People were just everywhere! We end up having to park in a hospital parking garage about 1.5 miles away. So we walk over there... there's a line formed to get in. We come up to the line and notice it extends back on the side of the building... ok no problem. We walk... and walk.. and walk! The line extended well past the grounds of the Aragon, and laced into and all around a strip mall parking lot. Finally we got into the building, probably spent ~40ish minutes in that line. Got our tour t-shirts, and went up to the ballroom. Some band named Mew was opening. Never heard of them.. and frankly, not my cup of tea. Grabbed a beer and watched the crowd cram into the ballroom floor. It was actually a really neat venue, very elaborate decorations for the stage area and sitting boxes on the second floor. The ceiling had this killer painting of space-like scene, complete with twinkling lighted stars.
Then Trent took the stage and the crowd literally surged ahead probably 35 feet or more, packing us all in even more closely together. This moron had been annoying Sarah the whole time before this (he went there with his Dad, how cute!) so I took the opportunity to shove him our of our way lol. The setlist he played was awesome, all over the place really. He played a lot of instrumental songs too which was kinda cool. Sarah didn't know that he can play pretty much any instrument handed to him... and Trent kept knocking over equipment which was hilarious!
Eventually the heat and closeness with so many people got to her, though, she turned to me and said that she's going off on the side for a bit to get some air. After about a half a song or so she hadn't come back so I got worried and left the main ballroom floor to find her. She felt bad that I came out after her... but I sure as hell wasn't going to leave her alone in a crowd that huge. So I got her something else to drink and we finished watching the show from the side. It was still enjoyable so that was good. Was sad when it was over... no encore either. He did play over 2 hours so we got our monies worth I'd say.
The drive home was wretched... She was exhausted and fell asleep pretty quick, so I was quietly jamming out to some tunes for the long drive back to Waukesha. She's got to work the rest of the weekend... but lucky me, I haven't even gotten dressed yet lol.
