Customary 9 hours at work today, but I actually enjoyed myself - felt more productive than my standard middle-management cog in the machine type mentality that I've had of late.
Everyone was very nice and many birthday wishes today.
My beautiful wife cooked up my favorite Thai chicken dish with rice and this wonderful cucumber/red pepper salad. She's a fantastic cook. My mom also came by.
My dog was very hyper, squeaking a rubber football all night. Our bird was peeping loudly much of the evening as well.
V bought me the Black Sabbath 8-CD boxed set, which I was very pleased with - I will be delighted to drive my Kelly Clarkson/ Britney Spears loving team at work crazy with repeated plays of War Pigs, Iron Man and Fairies wear Boots!
And now to bed where my very pregnant wife has kindly offered to give me a special birthday leg, thigh and buttock massage...!

More interesting than my 11 hour day at work filling out spreadsheets and routing information was my dreamscape last night.
Certain key themes reoccur:
1) The "Teeth" dream - where my teeth fall out, one by one, loose, so I can pluck them easily.
2) The "Lost in the City" dream where I'm wandering through city streets searching for a way out.
Archetypes.
The gang at work baked me a cake and wished me a happy pre-birthday. UGH, my mid-thirties. I'm ready to stop having birthdays now. Though it's nice to have presents. Merlo's baby was due on the 27th but her water broke last night.
Mmmmm ; presents.
Materialistic Fkr!

Since my last update, went to the rehabilitation center to see Mom-Moo, who is doing better, though she's still weak. Crushed vertibrae can't be easy to deal with but she's making a valiant effort and was up and about a bit before being exhausted.
Place was nicer than I expected, though very sterile-ish.
Returned home, collected the 100 best songs of Bob Dylan into an Itunes playlist (I own about 80% of his recorded output). Am only about 10 songs short of getting the whole list, so I'm thinking of buying the remaining tunes one by one (many of his late 70's/ early 80's albums have one gem amongst a pile of clunkers).
Veronica was out for a bit, returned and cooked a lovely london broil, with potatos and a side salad. She's a damn good cook. After that, I covered her pregnant belly and bosom in plaster and made a cast of her torso for posterity. It was her idea...I'm glad to have it, but who knows how we'll display it...!
Then sat and had rootbeer floats while watching Tim Burton's "Ed Wood" film (which I had never seen in it's entirety. All in all, a really fine day filled with simple pleasures.

I've been very sucko at updating and keeping a journal of any kind in recent years. This general malase regarding the written word has extended into other areas as well.
Translation: I'm getting rusty! My verbal acrobatics are flipfolumping on the floor like a poor ol' gasping mackerel on the hardwood floor. So I want to say: TODAY I will begin the new journal adventure. Don't want to jinx it though, so I'll just write.
My birthday is just in a couple of days and I feel very old for a spry guy in my mid-thirties. I think it's mainly because I never exercise and my general stamina and physical well being need a bit more care. Haven't been to the doc for a check up in over 10 years. My health has been pretty good, really but some things have been slipping since I turned 30 several years ago.
I have a back molar of which a piece broke off last week - got to see the dentist after the baby...no pain, just a missing chunk of tooth.
My grandmother, affectionally known as "Mom-Moo" moved into a rehabilitation facility (AKA nursing home) yesterday. I'm going to visit her in bit.
For breakfast, I had Sugar Corn Pops.
Then I alphabetized the WALL OF CD's.
My dog (named Alfred Hitchcock) is whining, so I'm going to take him outside and play ball. After I've put on my Chucks.

Was supposed to go to Brett's wedding today (two hours away in NY) but had to cancel. V's only 14 days away from her due due date, so I'll be a papa pretty quick!
Enjoyed my pool for the last time this year (probably) as the temp is starting to drop.
Brrrr.

Phew, this has been the easiest day of work I've had in ages (I mean it was no picnic, but it was a positive relaxing paradise compared to recent weeks)!
I'm sad summer is leaving us though, I like it hot.

Listening to Ravel. I'm compiling a series of musical tunes to help my wife relax with breathing exercises...our due date for the bebe is Sept 25th.
She doesn't seem to be too thrilled with Tangerine Dream, so I think it's going to be orchestral composers mainly. And some Brian Eno and Biosphere.
Imminent!

I had the most peculiar dream this morning. In the dream, I was single, living at home with my mom and grandmother, unemployed, and girlfriendless. I was going to call an old flame who I hadn't talked to in a while and see if she'd spend the evening with me in a hotel. I felt as if life were bleak and was going over scenarios in my head as to how I was going to escape my weakened state.
I woke up totally disoriented, back in my current reality...next to my beautiful wife (who is due to give birth in 5 weeks ), in my queen size bed, in the suburban dream house that I purchased last November. Somehow my brain had gone back in time to 1993. UGH!
WHEW!!! Am I glad that was just a dream...
