Joya is in the Cobble Hill area of Brooklyn. It is right where Warren hits Court St. Joya looks directly out at the street sign wtih both streets. It's off the Bergen stop on the F line if you take subways.

The owners of Joya have another place in Park Slope, named Song. It's just off the corner of 2nd St and 5th Ave. It's the same menu. They took some of the people from Joya to Song when they were opening it so it would have the same taste and feel. They too have a DJ spinning on Friday and Saturday nights. The bar and restaurant get packed most nights. The food is amazing in both places (I was stoked when they opened the one in Park Slope because I was walking distance to it), cash only but very inexpensive by NY standards.

23 Days until the warmth of southern CA. But who's counting? wink

I can't believe how cold it is here today. I'm sure it's colder in Boston or up in ME but it sure feels cold here. 9 degrees when I got up and who knows how cold it is with the windchill. I have to walk all the way across town to the west side to visit a client and I'm not looking forward to it. I'm leaving for CA (Orange County) biggrin again at the end of the month and this is going to make me appreciate it even more.

Went to my favoite Thai restaurant last night. Place called Joya in Brooklyn. One of those places with no name on the door and cash only but the food is excellent and on Friday and Saturday nights they have a DJ.

It is so fucking cold here today. I had to go to a Starbucks to get online because my Internet is down. Damn cable. I hate feeling like a hostage to those companies.

It is supposed to be minus 15 with the windchill. It hurts to be in windy aread. What a shock after such a warm winter. But I guess it had to go back to normal at some time. At least it's sunny. And I've seen some sick souls out running. Glad I did my running on a treadmill at Chelsea Piers last night.

It seems like it always gets cold for Fashion Week so you try to look real nice but then have to bundle up so much you have a pile of clothes on top of you for the show or you freeze while waiting to get in. Oh and Xtine, that was a pretty damn funny comment about fashion week in your town. I laughed out loud (and of course the people in this Starbucks thought I must be crazy. Nobody laughs by themselves at this time of the morning.

Hope y'all are staying warm doing something fun out there.

it is sooo cold here today. The wind is blowing but it's sunny. Fashion Week started Friday so there are even more interesting people in town than usual. I love days like this. Just cruised around SoHo for a while just watching the people. You can't beat NY when it's like this. Now I'm going to just hang, surf the net and drink coffee for a while and watch the people walk by. Then this evening off to a restaurant a friend designed. What an awesome day.

Anyone read "Self Made Man"? I just finished reading it. What a cool book. I got a chance to meet the author a few weeks ago and had to read the book. The author dressed up as a man for almost a year and a half to see what it was like to live in a man's world. She tried to go places women wouldn't normally be accepted (at least not in the same capacity) to see what it was like to live as a man in this world. Her perceptions were so right on. I recommend the book to anyone who likes to read.

Flew back into NY last night. Landed in falling snow. It was dumping snow out near the airport and looked like it had snowed much earlier in the city. Sometimes there is nothing worse than snow in the city. It is gorgeous and fun while it is snowing but man it sucks when it warms up a little. Nobody is good about clearing the snow and all that is left is mushy, dirty puddles. But I sure like the way it looks from the inside. This is a pic from an office I was in this morning.

Watched "Who Killed the Electric Car" today. Wow, it makes you hate big oil and our current administration even more. And no wonder the American car companies are in such trouble. They are the most short sighted companies in the world.

The surf was so good. It's so difficult to leave after having weather and waves like that. I can't wait to go back in about a month and a half.

In San Diego and the surf's coming up. The weather couldn't be better. It has been in the 60's and has even hit the 70's once. The water is cold but it's worth it. A friend were on dawn patrol this morning. Cold air (40's) and windy but the surf was getting bigger so with warm coffee in hand we suited up and went out. Some great overhead surf and about 2 hours of surfing before work. I've attached a pic of a friend who is surfing with me. We were checking out the waves before changing and getting suited up

I'm off to San Diego tomorrow. I can't wait. I just checked the surf report and there is a swell coming. The weather is supposed to be in the 60's and sunny. Beats the hell out of 20's and snowy.
