The crappiest part about recovering from surgery and gearing up for the radiation treatments is pretty much adjusting to being on medication. I have never, ever been on medication more than an cycle of antibiotics or some pain meds for short periods of time.
Now I find myself with the prospect of needing to take a pill every fucking morning of every fucking day for the rest of my life. Kind of crap. As crappy as it is, I don't have a thyroid anymore so I need to replace the hormone. My alarm is set for 5 AM every morning so that I will have a nice empty stomach at the same time every day in which to take my medicine. That is surprisingly easy to adjust to.
My other med lowers blood pressure and aids in healing the damage to my vocal nerve. This made me wobbly and out of sorts for the better part of last week. I was flushed and my heart rate would shoot up but weirdly my blood pressure dropped down into normal levels. This is called Nimodipine and it is for people with bad ass head injuries. (which I do not have) but it also aids in healing traumatized nerve tissue (which I do have) This drug was comically hard to acquire and my old man had to drive an hour to a different hospital pharmacy to find it.
I am on cipro as well for an opportunistic infection. (nevermind where and all that.) And that is kick the crap out of my digestive system. Still no word on when I will be starting the radioactive iodine. I think that will be fun. And kind of awesome (cuz it will kill whatever cancer is left in me.)
Right now though, I am catching up on Netflix and video games. One week minimume before i can go to work. Wish me luck and shit.
Peace
