I'm dying of lung cancer now - it's just a matter of time, and not very much at that.

Is this your first time having cancer?

Research everything. The cancer, the hospital you go to, the treatment, chemo side effects, radiation side effects... everything that will keep you from having any bad surprises. Chemo and radiation have really bad side effects. I don't know anything about radiation, but when I was on chemo my wife researched the three chemos that I was getting. I started doing things to prevent or lessen side effects, things that the doctors never thought to tell me. Gain weight. I lost about 15 or 20 lbs before I knew I had cancer, most people lose more weight during treatment. There's plenty of tips online for gaining weight. Your doctor should be able to give you some tips as well. Also, ask your doctor about steroids to help with weight. I have no idea if that would be something you need, but my doctor gave me a steroid and I would eat too much. I gained about 20 lbs while I was on chemo, then lost it when I had surgery and couldn't eat after.

Anyway, I'm rambling, sorry. I really hope you do well with all of this. It's important to try to stay positive and make sure to continue to do things that make you happy through all of this. I know it's not easy. Good luck.

SexyBeast is a very smart man! Listen to his advice.

I haven't really been around SG as of late, so I feel like I've missed a lot of what's been going on with you.

I am so sorry to hear about the cancer. If there is anything I can do, please don't hesitate to ask! Stay positive as much as you can (though I know it can/will be extremely difficult at times). I, too, hope something can be done.

*hugs*

Sorry to hear that Chris. Somehow, I had missed your last blog confirming that it was cancer. I assume that at this point, there is nothing the docs can do. There are alternative treatments out there that might be worth trying. Most focus on nutrition and detoxifying or cleansing your physical system. One of my classmates has used one and outlived the time the doc gave him by several months, as well as seen the growth in one of his lungs lose about half of its size. Whatever you do, focus on the light and let the fact that you've touched people in a very special way help you through.

that's quite horrible news to be hearing frown

do follow the advice in some of the comments above - there are always new cancer therapies out there and you should research and research and research to make sure you're getting the best treatment you can get...

Just checking back to see how you're doin...you may not think you have reason to keep your spirits high, but to be honest the happier a person is, the healthier they become. Stay with us as long as you can and keep that smile going or you may get gang-tickled by the lot of us :-p
