Could have just wrote out a fat check, but going to play a couple of 2hour plus shows with all proceeds going to disaster relief funds.
Wish I could make it.
Nice one.
A friend of mine happened to be doing a piece for TVNZ there so I managed to tag along as his assistant (I carried a tripod around for a couple hours) and check it out.Sweet

The Gods were kind and graced us with a beautiful day,it rained the night before and then literally 5 mins after the show finished!
It only took a few hours to get the footage we needed so I stayed on and enjoyed the show.

Creedence were really cool, a set of classic hits, awesome backdrop, plenty of wine flowing, and the baby boomers were having a ball.
People always feel blessed to be able to come to a place like ours and entertain(and get paid for it) and it is always well appreciated too, everyone has a great time from it.

2 hours to get out of the parking lot after...stink!!![]()
Later on that night was in town and was watching a local band at a small bar and Dr Hooks band were there having a drink.
After the locals finished their set they went on and had a bit of a jam.
It was awesome,a group of old blues/rock musicians having a drink and a jam and just having a real good ol time. Everyone loved it,I especially liked the ZZ top covers they did,and talking to them afterwards they were real cool guys and had an amazing time that night and the few days in the country, they really did seemed bummed that they were flying out the next morning.
Ended the night with a bit of a mission trying to get home, their really isn't enough taxis around at that time of night,so ended up catching the night bus home (more of a big van) which took an hour for a normally 7 min journey. Nice.
had a pretty good weekend last week, flew up to Auckland and went and saw High on Fire & The Melvins at the Kings Arms. High on Fire KICKED ASS,The Melvins were tight but got a bit percussive to me,I do appreciate having two drummers, and how good they are to play in time and all that but one thing I don't like (but I'm sure other people enjoy) is when bands start to go off and 'jam' during shows. Bores the fuck outa me.
Got some more work done on my right arm sleeve, was hoping to get it finished this session but Pete my tattoo artist was going through some issues,so wasn't really feeling it. Little bummed cos I do travel and spend a bit to see him but hey what can you do,if he's not into it he's not into it,can't push it really can you.

Checked out the tattoo convention in hamilton and was pretty underwhelmed by the whole thing. It was pretty small and they showed ALL the entertainment on the day before so on sunday it was just competitions.I was looking forward to the bands that they were going have on show and the burlesque dancers too.So just walked around the booths really. I discovered some really cool artists,my pick of them all, from china(i think the other was chinese but from france) Dong Dong(the chinese one) was doing a half sleeve on this guy,it was his first tattoo and he didn't think it would take that long! I didn't see the finished piece cos he woulda been there late into the night! It's funny how some people think it's just like drawing on a piece of paper or something and not realise the the time and effort that goes into tattoos.
Ended the weekend (and the main reason for the trip) with Queens of the Stone Age. Seen them couple years ago when they opened for Smashing Pumpkins(didn't really go to see the Pumpkins) so was looking forward to seeing a full set. The venues air con was not working or something and it was absolutely cooking in there. Band had technical problems also, they played a bit of a shortened set,bit stink for a headliner but the time they were on stage was awesome. At least I managed to see them, they cancelled their next two shows in the country. A mate of mine managed to meet Josh Homme for an interview,he was stoked! They apparently had a great day riding harleys out to Piha beach, sitting on the beach getting stoned and drinking beer.Maybe they had too much fun, hence the shortened set,and was first show in 4 months.
Piha, awesome beach, used to go out every weekend growing up.
