This video's about 30 minutes long so most people may be put off watching, but it's worth the time. It's bizarre, hilarious and chock full of celebrity cameos. The Beastie Boys still get it 25 years later..
Happy New Year everyone! I actually started the new year by joining the 21st century and gertting my 1st ever Smart Phone ( a HTC Thunderbolt)! I just couldn't justify not making the step up with my new upgrade due. Add that to the Kindle Fire I got for Christmas and I am on the verge of being tech savvy
After having one of those "milestone" birthdays last year that comes equipped with people constantly asking you if it bothers you or if it makes you take stock of your life ( or if it just makes you feel old), it's nice to just have a regular old, forgettable birthday this year.
Maybe I'm truly turning into a grumpy old man, but tell me if I'm wrong here...
Last week I went to see Hall & Oates in concert with my girlfriend ( I know, I rock hard!) There was a couple sitting next to us during the show that basically had loud running conversations throughout the entire show. I'm not talking about random comments, I'm talking full blown discussions about their weekend plans or some stupid party they were at last weekend that lasted the entirety of each song. And the guy in this couple had a deep, loud voice that he made no attempt to muffle while he talked.
After sitting through this for the entire opening act and half of the main show, I finally turned to them and said calmly " can you please keep the volume down on the talking?" The girl's response-"are you serious?" Incredible.
I'm not trying to be a talk Nazi or anything and I don't expect absolute silence, but if you really just want to have an extended conversation with music in the background, go to a fucking Starbucks!
Is it me?

If you've seen the trailer for the movie "Battle:LA" you might be familiar with this song, but it's crawled into my brain and taken up residence of late.
It only has two lyrics in the whole song but they're wonderfully evocative:The sun’s gone dim, and the sky’s turned black Cause I loved her, and she didn’t love back
And the video is totally freaky ( as a wise woman told me: very David Lynch-like)

At work we just these new prophy paste dispensers for dental cleanings- they now come in a ring you can wear to make it easier to keep it close by while working.
So why is it whenever I put the thing on I get urge to start reciting: " In Brightest Day In Darkest Night No Evil Shall Escape My Sight"

Hope everyone had a nice Christmas, I know I did. I got some pretty good gifts this year, but two stood out. The first was a new digital camera from my girlfriend. I will finally have something to take pictures with besides my crappy no pixel cell phone ( the last actual digital camera I owned was the kind you slid a floppy disk into, so yeah, it's been awhile).
But to me the best gift of all was one I got from my brother. His wife's friend works for AMC Theatres in marketing, and she gave over to me a free pass to all AMC theaters to any showing at any of their theaters all year long. HO-LEE SHIT!! For a movie buff like me, this was a wet dream come true! Seriously, I am so psyched about this!
Anyway, hope everyone holidays are going well and that you all have kick-ass New Year's plans.

Since I finished my X-Mas shopping earlier in the week, I was able to avoid the malls and catch a couple of movies. Here's what I saw:
1) Black Swan: a really freaky movie with an amazing performance by Natalie Portman ( not her biggest fan, but she really went all out in this role). It might be about ballet, but it's no chick flick.
2) The Fighter: an amazing film. Every actor in the movie did a fabulous job, but Christian Bale was ridiculously good. If you aren't into the boxing match that ends the movie, you are made of stone.
Anyway, that plus a huge turkey sausage, turkey bacon and cheese omelette for brunch was my weekend. Hope everyone's having a nice holiday season so far

I have two things in my life that seem to be sucking up all my free time:
1) Red Dead Redemption: I found a bit dull at first with all the horse riding and a lack of shooting people, but I quickly got sucked into the story and all the little missions to do. I always start playing with the intention of stopping after one hour, but never seem to cut myself off without at least 2-3 hours logged.
2) Angry Birds: I curse my gf's niece for showing me this game
. It's like crack for me now. Who would think such a simple game would be impossible to put down?
Oh well, back to the X-Box I go
