So, only one person finds me interesting out of the entire Suicide Girls population.
I have decided to write a blog for this nice young lady.
As of right this second I have no direction in what I will be blogging about so give me a second to think...hmm
OK, here goes...
I have been thinking a lot lately about how the world around me is changing. Most obvious to those of us in the Midwest (I'm in Chicago) is the shifting of the seasons. I remember in May when I was little I'd be walking home from school and the sun would be pounding on me in the gentlest way. There would be a breeze that brought the scent of spring and summer together in the way only a potpourri spray can now reproduce.
I have been reminding people of these memories of my youth for over 5 years now. The last five years when April hosts winter storms I remind people that it used to rain in April creating our usual May scenery. Now we have long showers all through May.
We trudge through out extended winter; being teased with a 58 degree day here and there only to be rained on when the climate finally becomes suitable for our liking.
Winter depression turns to despair and contempt for mother natures cruel joke.
Another change I have been witnessing lately came to me from nowhere. When I looked at all the evidence I had been taking in lately it took me by surprise that I hadn't noticed something sooner.
Western civilization has raped us of yet another comfort in which it so strongly founded itself on.
Monogamy.
I haven't gone into depth in my own head about the exact reasons for this; but let me throw out some suggestions that I may myself dispute at a later time.
People divorce casually. Cheating is a huge deal for a short time. People are becoming desensitized when it comes to heartbreak.
The woman's rights have made for men's roles in the household to be less important. Women want men to give them 100% respect; which they deserve to have. At the same time women want to be treated like girls in movies and be treated like the man has authority in which they could "rescue" the girl. It's pretty contradicting and confusing as hell to a guy.
Sex has become such a boring thing to most people. In the 60's kinky was doing it 'doggy" and way exotic was anal. Now you find yourself in bondage within a year of the first time you have sex with your partner.
If sexual attraction between two people has a scale of 1-10 1 being the first romantic kiss and 10 being to the point where you have to watch a re-run of "Baywatch" just to get into the mood to do your hag of a wife; then it's obvious that we're getting into trouble being at stage 6 within the first year of a relationship.
We have gone from "I wanna hold your hand" to "Cut my wrists and black my eyes" (It's no secret that I despise irresponsible lyrics from untalented musicians).
When i was younger I found songs that helped me understand other people were there for me, not that it was cool to cut and bleed and aim to get attention through hurting yourself or others. That's another story though.
I have a lot of friends as I look around that I just really couldn't see ever getting married. They don't seem to have it even in their sites either. As I move on from one relationship to the next I'm getting more and more convinced that it's possible people have an actual need for multiple sexual partners. Some of my friends don't even need sex; they are more into their friends.
There are many civilizations that practice polygamy still and succeed within themselves. As usual though whenever a western culture enters one of these cultures they try and convey their thoughts on love attempting to dissuade the culture from their aboriginal roots.
If you are confused right now you should be. this is not well thought out at all.
I think I should think about this more and present my evidence intelligently as opposed to a rant.
Until then look around...what do you think? Do you notice that as things are changing that maybe our ideas of monogamy are not relevant anymore?
