Hi hi hi

It's been a crazy few weeks. We start shooting on season 5 of "Nurse Jackie" on Monday. The time leading up to shooting is always my craziest time, since it's my job to get all the equipment and such in place to shoot. All the bla bla bla. That's what I do. The bla bla bla. So things have been crazy.

Even though it's season 5 things have been very different this year. The show was originally conceived by a couple, Linda Wallem and Liz Brixius. Not long after they wrote the pilot they split up. Then Showtime picked up the show. So they now had to work as an EX couple to write this show together. It's like they split up and found out that one of them was pregnant (yes, they were a gay couple, so the metaphor doesn't totally work. But you get the idea). Either way, after 4 years of insane tension, they both gave up and left the show. BUT Showtime wanted the show to go on, so they brought in the guy who wrote "Dexter" for the first 4 seasons. I won't say his name in the case he googles himself all the time. (Which I'm sure he does), but he is an absolute lunatic and it is NOT hard to see where Dexter comes from at all. A few small examples:

* He will only let his assistant bind his scripts with 1" silver fasteners.
* His office must be 72 degrees at all times. And he still wears a scarf.
* He had the ceilings raised all over the studio because he's claustrophobic. At the cost of $60,000!!!!
* He uses Purell after touching anyone.
* He won't let anyone who is the SLIGHTEST bit sick be in the room with him. At all. If you cough, sniffle, anything, you're gone.

He's fun!!

But I have to remind myself every once in a while that while my job is often ridiculous (And it is), sometimes...JUST sometimes....something amazing comes out of all this.

For example:

Don't get me wrong I did NOT work on "Almost Famous" (twas a bit before my time, I'm afraid), but I wish I had. I think it's just about perfect in every way. God I love this movie.

If you could pick one movie to watch forever, what would it be?

Wow he sounds pretty special.

Although I will say that a significant majority of the creative geniuses that I've had a chance to work with have been, at minimum, idiosyncratic and at extremes, batshit fucking insane. I guess it's the price.

I keep meaning to watch Nurse Jackie - hear really good things about it.

For the longest time, the movie I could just watch over and over again was Prisoner of Azkaban. Seriously, it's a work of art and it set the tone for all the HP movies to follow and most other fantasies as well. Also, I'm 5.

Now I think it might actually be Scott Pilgrim vs. The World. The more I see that film, the more I realize how ridiculously brilliant it is. It keeps revealing little (hilarious) details on every subsequent watch.

Good luck with the bla bla bla!

The photography is incredible, the directing is both sublime and quirky and the score is John Williams' best in 20 years, in my opinion.

I feel horrible. I had my exams today and I think it was not my day. I think I failed. Not sure at all, but this is my feeling at the moment. I feel horrible because I studied and learn my lessons during 8h per day for a complete week..

But I'll be in Berlin for Xmas and this is such a good news.

What about you friend?

I'll try to go to London - but I need a place to stay. I hope I'll find a solution...
London, I can't get the idea out of my head.
