Berney Park S.C. - Metro Soccer Tournament
So the big Metro Soccer Tournament took place this past weekend, with the qualifier games taking place on Saturday an the Championship Rounds on Sunday. Myself and the rest of Berny Park S.C. was looking forward to a long and competitive day of Soccer. Our first game started at 9am vs the Rowlett Raiders. For this game I would start at Left-Mid Fielder. Within the first two minutes we scored a Goal. Another few minutes later as I attempted to chase the opponent with the ball, I made a cut to go to the right using my left leg. As I planted my left foot, heard a "pop" and felt my calf muscle contract. Initially there was no pain so I tried to run. After several attempts, I couldn't so I had to "kneel down" so the Ref could stop the play on the field so I could make an exit.
I limped off the field pretty sure I had just pulled my Calf Muscle and didn't fully understand the severity of this injury as I have never really been injured like this before, and I honestly thought I could just walk it off and play again in the next half or be ready by the start of the next game. But after I had described what had happened to my teammates on the sidelines, they told I wouldn't be doing much of anything for a few weeks at the minimum. And they were right, after about 5 minutes of playing time, I was done for the day with only a slide block and a bone head miss on a play for the ball as my only two highlights. I iced up my left calf muscle and watched the rest of the game from the sidelines. We went on to win that game 1-0. The next two games vs. Delilah FC and vs.TN Dallas I could only look on as Berny Park S.C. lost both of those games. 2-0 vs Delilah and, well I stopped keeping score vs. TN Dallas because it got so bad. Needless to say we didn't qualify to play on Sunday.
Two days later I continue walking with a limp. There is no sever pain or discoloration, only discomfort if I try to stretch out and walk correctly with my left leg. Thank goodness I sit in a chair for a living. I am going to cancel my participation in the Summer Soccer League as it's only a few weeks away. I don't want to risk re-injuring my leg and possibly make it worse and be on one leg for the entire summer. And I'm skipping the gym for the next few days. If it doesn't get worse, I will attempt to continue my exercising by altering my workouts so there is no strain on my legs.
Some might tell me to really take it easy for the next few weeks, and maybe I should. I could always spend more time playing games. I just got "Punch Out" for the Will and I am addicted to it like I was back in the 80's. Or I can pick up the pencil/photoshop and get creative over the summer. That would be really fun for me.

Vox QotD: Happy Memorial Day
How are you spending Memorial Day?
I came into work today because I had forgotten I had the day off. Which is fine by my as I'll only be here for a few hours and this will give me some time work on some images and stay ahead for the week. After this I'll try to catch an afternoon showing of "Terminator Salvation" and then spend the rest of the day off of my feet by playing "Punch Out" for the Wii.
