Wow, hella long time since I've been on here. I do like layout changes though.
Had an odd memory pop up today when I was at the bookstore. I found a copy of Larry McMurty's "Lonesome Dove" and I was reminded of when I first read the novel as a Marine in Iraq. The memory shows Marine humor beautifully.
Me: Sitting in the Hummer reading the paperback of "Lonesome Dove". The captain walks up to me.
Capt: Hey, that book any good?
Me: Yep, pretty entertaining so far. Everyone is in love with town whore.
Capt: Huh, ever read it before?
Me: Nope.
Capt: Know how it ends?
Me, annoyed: Nope
Capt: Well, you know we're going on a raid tonight and expect resistance, right?
Me: Yep, I took the message traffic and told you. Remember, Sir?
Capt: Oh that's right! Well you should read the last chapter of the book before we go. Just in case you get killed and all. That way you know how it ends.
Me: That's fucked up, Sir.
Capt: I'm always thinking of your best interests, Brother.
