more homework done. next pic finished for another assignment. had to have a "direct light" portrait.
this is barrett my best bud.
i tried two different styles. i think the top one is a little too redish. and the bottom is a little to much blue. gotta find a happy medium i gues tongue

Haha, no worries.

I just used a studio flash on the right of the model with a diffusser square pannel, very simple.

As for finding a happy balance with those pics, just do a white balance white in RAW! It works for me pretty much all the time.

Haha I know I have the same problem. Sometimes I have very clear that I want to have a pic well white-balanced, but others I spend hours touching up the colours until I like it.

I prefer the second bluish pic, I always prefer cold tones.
