decided to cut the dreads off at burning man this year.. i had been looking for a good excuse for some time now. what better then to do it in the place i love the most, home, at the temple of transition, during burning man rites of passage? it seem to line up pretty well i thought... heres a video of the event:
needless to say had a great time, again.. and cant wait for next year.
also back here in the default world im looking forward to recording an album with the band soon.. and getting another music/ art project started, and doing some production music, about to help start a new business with my boss and might get contract kind of gigs at casinos too... so we'll see what all actually pans out, but even if a few of them work out that'll still be dope.
any other burners out there also come back with a whole new insight and motivation towards life?

good opportunities keep on popping up with the band too..
we're are getting to open for alien ant farm in about a month.. i need to sell ticket to it, so if you a fan hit me up, they're only $15 and theres a total of 6 bands playing.we got the best spot too, we're playing right before them too. its going to be a good show, im excited for it.
im starting to plan for burning man too, its coming up on me fast, which is awesome.
i still need to decide weather i want to go to seattle first and travel with my friends there, or make the road trip from here. either way, its going to be fucking awesome!
theres also been a slew of pretty good bands coming to vegas recently, this has alway been a city that most bands skipped to get to california, but not these last 2 years.. specially lately
so far ive seen; system of a down, a perfect circle, cake, rx bandits, tool, puscifer, primus and tonight im going to flaming lips.
AND in july mars volta is opening for soundgarden.. i already got my ticket, its going to be siiick! im mainly a mars volta fan, but i know ill enjoy soundgarden too.
one band that is skipping las vegas who ive always wanted to see but havent yet is bela felck and the flecktones... that really bums me out because their last album was amazing and they are doing like a 50 date US tour, they are also not going to california which sucks, because id be down to make the road trip.

so the new band is moving pretty quickly we got to play the house of blues a couple times already and have 2 more shows booked there. and even better then those shows are the ones we've been putting together in a small venue by our houses where we charge $5 to get in and get to keep all of that money.
we played there twice bringing over 100 people each time.

plus ive only paid once for this sg account over a year ago, and i dont think ive gotten charged again.. yet im still here.. ive read alot of random cases here of people getting their account renewed a lot.. so im wondering if either theres a sg fairy out there granting free membership or if the sg system is somehow neglectful with keeping up who pays and who doesnt...
in other news i finally was able to upload some videos from 2 shows i played on halloween weekend with my friends funk band called dopamine flux.
i only filled in for them for that show because their bass player didnt want to learn a whole set of cover songs in a week. but i didnt mind regarding that i also had worked every day until the day of the shows.
we still did pretty well though regardless.

damn it ok, fuck it... new post.. its been long enough, and today kinda has been dedicated to doing stuff i havent in a while... like clean up my studio area... or start too at least.. i have a drum set and a pa to make room for..
also started to work on new ideas since ive been picking away at the same one for the past 4 months...
thought its turning out to be one of my favorite songs ive recorded i also dont want to hold my breath until i finish it.
though i feel way more enlightened and positive as ever... ive been holding on to the dear memory of burning man and try to stay in the same mood i was while i was out there.
i never really try to have high expectations towards anything but i couldnt help it for burning, it looked like the best place to experience things you wouldnt be able to anywhere else. plus everyone i knew who went talked about it in such high regard... so it was hard to not expect the best.
but god damn... it blew my expectations away by a long shot... its one thing to see, read, and hear about it then actually being there.
words really dont suffice ... hell maybe just mine dont, but i had never enjoyed the present tense for that long of a time to its fullest like i did at burning man. i felt guilty to sleep with the knowledge of where and when i was.. theres something amazing to do, see, hear, taste, and/ or experience every direction you look.
i strongly believe everyone who can should and owe it to themselves to go to burning man unless your someone who:
1 cant tolerate being without some common household commodities and comforts like a good bed, a clean decent bathroom and a/c
2 doesnt have too much of an open mind and get offended easily
3 needs to have everything planed out and your fond or routine, because shit happens and you just have to go with the flow and not get bent out of shape
that being said though, theres so much to do that if something isnt your style and your not feeling it, you can just get up and check out whats happening next door..
i think burning man is more like an amusement park in a sense but with the twist of it being imposible to do everything, because its way too big and its always changing and i just dont mean year to year, but also day to day.
i cant wait for next year... already starting to think about it a lot as to what to bring/ wear/ share/ and be creative about...
well thats enough about that.. i almost feel its a waste to even type this up about it since it can in no way justify and capture the countless feeling and emotions i went though that whole week...
i will leave you with this though... one of the main reason for finally being able to make it this year was because my friends that live in seattle pushed me to save up and do it because they knew how much good it would do me.. so i did, and it was a pretty damn good decision ive.
i was so glad to see them, and also witness their progress musically as i am one of their biggest fans, and they play some music that id say is about as hard to describe as burning man...
i just love to eat it up.

besides that ive been jaming with some other people that are starting up a open mic/ open jam kinda night at yayo taco as well. so we'll be doing that like every thursday.
plus ive also been playing with a good buddy of mine that just quit his band, and this would be a like a chili peppers style pop funk kinda band.
so yeah... i guess i could say ive been spending a lot of my time around music...

so its safe to say im almost just writing this for a older, board me...
the birthday was fun... though it is on feb. 6th i celebrated early because i had the whole house to my self the weekend before...
i did a friday, saturday, sunday open house/ come whenever kind of party where i was BBQing food, and had a live music set up all 3 days and got to jam with a lot friends... saw some people i hadnt seen in a while, had an all around good time all 3 days...
the first night on friday was the busiest, and i got all kinds of fucked up..
a few friends crashed and helped clean up the next day and get everything in order for round2...
the process repeated, then again, and i was drained more and more.
then the next weekend for my actual birthday i went to a show to see my guitar player's other funk project open up for a really cool band called nomo..
i was able to record most of the show on my video camera...
it was a pretty fun night for sure..
and then this past weekend i got to go to universal studios in california with my dad...
he got me an annual pass to it, so thats pretty cool.
this whole week we've been getting ready with my band for the show this weekend because we hadnt practiced in a while...
and we're also getting everything ready to finally start recording out full cd.
we have some shows lined up, they should be a lot of fun... it always is. and hopefully we can get to tour this summer once we have our cd out..

our night is called pink velvet, and for those who didnt know that another word for vagina.
the idea was to get a flier with a girl on it with legs spread open,
and where her vagina would be glue on top of it some pink velvet.
because if it feels and looks nice you'd be more likely to go...
and the music sounds nice..
we just got a new drummer who is working out great,
so being caught up in catching him up time crept up on me and i didnt get to make the flier for the show
well hopefully we get around to doing the idea for next months show.
