Heavy Metal in Baghdad on Hulu
This is a sweet and tragic story about the herculean task of operating a heavy metal band in the most difficult of places. The intrinsic value of making music is apparent in the dedication of Acrassicauda. Music is its own excuse for being. from mr. annesmith2

i read Upton Sinclair's "The Jungle" when i was 16 & (even though it is mostly about labor, SES, & human suffering) it was the sick treatment of nonhuman animals depicted in that book that grossed me out the factory- farmed carnivore door.

experimenting with merch--cute cotton thong panty possibility
"Panty-minimalists love our casual thong that covers sweet spots without covering your assets.... Toss these message panties onstage at your favorite rock star... " the Husband has a gig on the 4th of July in NWA so I'll try to refrain. Cute product description lingo though quoted here.

Lisa Yuskavage, "Blonde Brunette and Redhead", 1995 1:12 scale piece
from Art Collection No. 2 for the Kaleidoscope House by Bozart.

".....colors on our world.
Lisa Yuskavage’s world is one of beauty that has lost proportions, that is spilling out of the body. It’s a world with wishes of freedom and slavery. It’s a world of restraint and exhibitionism. Of course, this is only a part of our world, a small part, but a beautiful one, and when so well crafted, it sweeps you away into it.
Lisa Yuskavage’s work is about desire: a disturbing melange of portraits of babylike women residing in a world of lush, saturated colors that bely a dark psychological space just this side of the fetishistic. On lurid grounds of greens, pinks, purples, and aquas her figures often emerge apparitionally-flesh, clothing, and hair delineated through shadows and light in a disconcerting blurring of boundaries. With striking intensity, these childlike women both attract and repel with their frank and seductive psychosexual power. (Faye Hirsch)

an amazing link to her astonishingly pretty nudes--I LOVE Lisa Yuskavage's P.O.V.--so interesting.
She must be painting in something like egg tempra--i swear her technique is bodacious--soft evocation of deep emo like Vermeer or the Cocteau Twins.

SO I'm relenting after getting the word on May 18th from the Facebook ADMN folks and rebuilding my Facebook page as apparently it is impossible to recover and put back up my ORIGINAL Facebook page--which inexplicably vanished without warning about a month ago. WTF? Still confused about that--and also annoyed that i'm even one iota attached. Aargh.Facebook Profile resurrected

Link to ancient historian Sarah Pomeroy work on Xenophon
Pomeroy--author of the groundbreaking "Goddesses, Whores, Wives, Slaves" on women in classical antiquity. Pomeroy is a scholar that's one of my heroes. She's editing out and supplementing historical accounts by correcting for the androcentric bias in all of academics, all the intellectual disciplines. SO sad--so much phallologocentric error to remedy.
