My fucking HIP.

Jesus. What the hell. I have so much shit to do around the house, to clean up my crazy children and yet it kills my hip. I end up feeling like such a lazy bastard.

And I really didn't think clearly enough about this, but I'm going to Pax (one day this year) and my fucking hip is going to kill me. The whole time. I need to bring something to sit my ass on rather than standing up. Thank god they at least have sumo bags all around!

ON a more positive note, I have been reminded how amazing the old school Transformers cartoons are, Tiny Toon Adventures and Animaniacs.

When I have more time, I need to post some videos.

But jesus, my kids LOVE THEM. They have been going around for the last month + singing the theme to Transformers and are going bonkers for the Animaniacs and Tiny Toon Adventures! It's awesome. This is stuff I loved when I was a kid... well, more than a kid. I was a teenager at the bloody time, but still - freaking amazing.

They love it. TONS. Woot.

Anyway, off to work. iPad in tow. I fuckin' love this thing, if I hadn't made that clear before. Almost 2 months and the thing is just. fucking. amazing.

New Big Boi album?

FUCK YES.

Happy days. I've got "Back up plan" stuck in my head on endless loop.

And new Robyn?

FUCK YES AGAIN.

I was iffy on the album to start, it's more subdued than her "debut", but damn it I love it now.

Dancing on my own rocks my socks.

And I can share Robyn with my kids biggrin

NOT so much Big Boi.

I want Andre 3000 to come out with a new album. Boo.

It's been a while.

How my peeps being?

What's the dizzle?

I still fucking love my iPad. That thing goes everywhere with me. I've got a screen protector on it and had to swap it out, unfortunately, because it got some scratches on the screen. I can't entirely blame the iPad for that, it was sand, because our back yard is in the process of getting cemented and there are sand pits.

And the kids like sand.

And the DOGS like sand.

All this equals a fucktard ton of sand, which could scratch even the most resilient of surfaces. Sigh.

Anyway, I've got another one that doesn't have any scratches and DOES have a screen protector on it. But being OCD, the protector is 99% perfect but there's a few pieces of hair/lint that got caught underneath and it's driving me batty, so I have to take it back and have them redo it. Le sigh. I'm embarassed, though...

Stupid OCDness... >.<

How is everyone else? Anyone get an iPad? Huh? Huh?

Drink the Steve Jobs kool-aid. It's tasty.

Okay, so I'm on almost 2 weeks of having the iPad.

I do say, without question, that this is the most fun I've had out of any electronic device I've owned.

Yes, it's and oversized iPod Touch.

Yes, the OS is very locked down and limiting. There are some things that I'd love to do, but I can't. I want to stream my iTunes library while I'm connected at home. I would like to have file system access. I would like, yes, flash and multitasking.

Even with progams like, well, Last.fm, I can't keep loaded while I do other things. Or chat/IM programs. I move onto something else and I'm done. That to me is stupid, but iOS 4.0 will change that and I can always install the Backgrounder application to kluge it for the time being.

However, even without those things, this device makes me smile every time I turn it on. The screen is beautiful. The browsing is magical. I almost never want to touch my PC again because, well, it's just not as FUN.

The games are great. Loading up Angy Birds, Doodle Jump, etc... I never considered myself a casual gamer, per se, but these draw me back.

And even typing on the on-screen keyboard is far better than anyone could expect. Because of the large text size, it works so amazingly well. I've never felt comfortable on a touch screen keyboard, but this one I do. Hell, I can even do full typing in landscape mode without even blinking an eye.

And comics. OMG. Comics. Being able to view comics is like what this device was made to do. I read through a few different comics now and every one is just great. I've got more to read and I can't wait to do it.

I could easily do most of this on a netbook, but it's not as fun. Everything is slower. I can stream high quality video without blinking. I can flip the screen from landscape to portrait without a moment of hesitation. I can flip it so the speaker is higher to the top, and still see everything I'm doing.

And the sound quality is more surprising than you'd expect with the one speaker. Sure you're not going to get the effect of sound going left to right, but the quality is clear and just... well, good.

What else... well, everything? The thing carries so nicely in my little murse/netbook bag along with the keyboard. And without it, just with the Apple case, it's a dream. The apple case, although it lacks, well, anywhere to put anything, keeps it thin, thin, thin. It's great and it makes life so much easier, it provides a good, solid grip.

The biggest gripe I think I have is the volume keys inside the case. It's a bit of a PITA, but hardware wise, I think that's really the only frustration. And that's just more due to the case design around those buttons.

I urge anyone, anywhere that is thinking about a netbook for just random web surfing and a few school articles/papers to look into this + a keyboard. I've used Netbooks and I don't like them.

I've used the iPad and I love it. Hell, I can play oodles of games on it with my kids.

Me likey. Anyway, look at getting it, seriously. I can't imagine anyone regretting the decision if they can put up with some issues.

Yes, it's a giant iPod Touch, but is that really a bad thing? And it's so much more. Faster. More accessible..

Damn it, this thing is the bomb. Seriously, almost 2 weeks and I would prefer to just spend hours doing... well, whatever on it.

Now back to reading Scott Pilgrim before I go to bed... and maybe a game of Doodle Jump. I'd really like to surpass 20k...

Sigh.

First, I'm drunk.

3 Jack + Pucker shots + 3 mike's hard lemonade, not good.

Well, good, actually.

Drunk.

So then.

That said.

The iPad is the best technical thing EVER.

Screw a netbook. Get your money together and get a freakin' iPad and a wireless keyboard.

The thing is sexy beyond sexy.

I jailbroke it (jailbraked?) and damn, I can install whatever I want on there and it's amazing. The battery life kicks ass, the entire thing is GORGEOUS.

Make sure you have a good microfiber cloth with you to clean it off, get a good case for it and damn, it's worth every penny.

Playing Plants vs Zombies, watching TV and playing awesome games is just beyond awesome.

Awesome.

Must to get.

So day 5 here. Only a few days left. It makes me sad.

This really is a nice vacation in some ways. Drinking? Check. Weed? Check. Not having to worry about taking care of my kids? Check.

now I just need some sex and I'm good to go. Sigh. Sex. What is that again? I've forgotten... My right hand doesn't count. Sigh frown

How is everyone?

Good?

Good.

I have arrived, back home in good ol' Chi-town...ish.

The home where I never saw a Bulls game, a Cubs, White Socks OR an Oprah show.

Of course where I work now people are more shocked about the Oprah show, and I think that says a lot about the makeup of people I work with...

My dad is doing... well, I guess as best as could be expected after a quadrillion mini-strokes and 2 big ones. Plus he has Parkinson's disease and a major urinary disorder. Things aren't good. But he's better than I thought he'd be, so I guess that's saying something.

I miss my girls, though. But it's nice being away. I can sleep in, drink, smoke weed, do all this stuff without having to worry. But I miss my girls, so all of these things are a toss up, they are debatable... so... whatever.

Anyway, how is everyone else doing..???

I haven't been on in a while, and that saddens my heart. I leave, tomorrow... er, tonight and am gone back home to visit family until the 5th of June whence I shall return, hopefully to far less rain because, damn, it's a rainy bitch right now.

I haven't decided whether or not to stay over in a hotel. Since my flight leaves at 8:50am and it's the holiday weekend, imma need to be there REAL early, but actually having a few hours in a hotel, seeing as I'm not going to get much sleep tonight, probably would be a good idea... but if something happens and I fuxor my time to get to the airport, I'll never forgive myself... Ugh, choices.

I heart Red Dead Redemption and I urge EVERYONE to play it. It's seriously on my top list. I'm not sure how I feel about the ending, but the rest of the game is over and above one of the most engrossing and engaging gaming experiences I've had.

I really need to dig into Alan Wake, and I think I'll start out on that when I get back, but I've got Blur and Split/Second for my "I just need something simple and fun" fix...

Ah, games...

As for the Gears 2 update, I dunno... seems like it's done fuck all to make the game NOT a piece of shit. I expected my shotty to work like a dream and I just felt far less anything than I had in the past... Maybe I just need more experience with it, who knows...

How's everyone else?

Make me feel loved, talk to me peoples!

  • Mass Effect 2

  • Gears of War

  • Gears of War 2

  • Red Dead Redemption, although I'm not done, I think it's going to be on this list!

  • Super Metroid

I like my list.. biggrin

Okay, and now for my game trading insanity...

3 copies of Lost Planet 2
2 wii consoles
1 copy of SMG2 (which I'll be getting tomorrow)
1 copy of RDR
1 copy of Split/Second

All for under $250, retail that's like...

God. Damn.
