So, the reaction to the RNC finally affected me personally and a little close to home last night. They closed off a portion of the street I live on near Union Square due to a protest. Must have been impromptu as they chose a strange place for it. Anyway, they wouldn't let me into a block radius of my damned apartment so I had to take a circuitous route. No biggie but, definitely an odd experience.
I also realized that my son has been witness to as many marches/prtotest/activist events as i have and he's not even two yet!!! Crazy times, folks, crazy times...
The kicker to all of this is that I'm leaving town for the weekend on Thursday night after work. Taking Amtrak. From Penn Station. Right under Madison Square Garden. Where the RNC is being held. On the day Bush arrives for his four hour visit. Could I have had a WORSE reservation?! We shall see if I make it out alive or, at the very least, to my train on time...
On a more positive note, I got together with an old friend last night I, literally, haven't seen in close to 15 years. She spotted me on the street a few weeks ago but couldn't stop to get my attention. So she Googled me. That, in and of itself, is a remarkable wake-up call that you can get anything on the internet. Actually, that isn't as true in my case as I do have a few references due to my job and some hobbies. Anyway, food for thought...
Hope everyone has a great day!!!

I was visiting the in-laws. They're moving by the end of the year and are cleaning house. Went down to help with a yard sale. Added a few things of my own. In total, the net was close to $1300. Impressive by any standards of yard saledom AND on a holiday weekend to boot...
Beyond that, swam a little, hung a little, ate a lot. All in all a nice time and we made it back to NYC in record time despite a late start due to car "troubles"...
