Geez!!! I don't know why people freak out when they see MMA. Boxing is so much more popular and yet, boxing is by far much more dangerous. Boxing, your goal is punch the other guys head off. In MMA, at least you have more options, like submission, and it doesn't last as long as a boxing match, so you can easily earn points with strikes to the leg or body. At least it is spread out and not all aimed at the head. I am just ranting because I got home from doing some boxing sparring and my nose is effed up. Ugh!!!

Finally, the swelling has gone down on my shin. But I am still going to break from kick sparring for a few more days. In the meantime, I can just stick with boxing and knee sparring. Good stuff!!

Wow, my body is sore today. Got home from the gym after doing some knee sparring for an hour and decided I would like to take a nap. I love 2 our naps. They are just delightful.

Moving! It sucks. So much to carry around and organize. I'm just leaving it all over the place. Probably organize everything over the long weekend. The plus side: a Muay Thai gym two doors down that will knock my ass into shape. Been going five days a week now and it fun but tough. So I do Muay Thai kickboxing on MWF at 7am and strength and conditioning on TTh at 6am. Those are very early times for me. blackeyed But it so worth it. They also have a jiu jitsu class in the evening and that is super tough. I don't know if I can hang with that till I get a bit more in shape. But we'll see...

I was finally able to find a place to put my drums, yet it is still a bit of a drive for me. At least I get to play them once a week which is better than it was before. I miss being able to play for an hour every day. But now it is still even more difficult being in the middle of school. Oh well, one day I'll be able to get back to that. Hopefully then I'll be able to find some cool people to jam with also.

Let me tell you, there is nothing worse than for a drummer to not be able to play his drums. For the past few months, my drums have been stacked in the corner of my room (in an apartment) preventing me from bashing on those suckers. And these past few months have definitely been sad and depressing just because of it. Thankfully, one of my friends has moved out into a house and has given me the great news that I will be able to set up my drums in his garage and finally play. After months... I'll be so happy to finally be able to let loose. Drumming is such a great release of energy and I will definitely be happier because of it. Just thought I'd let you know.

Hello All, I was told that I should probably start a blog. I'm not really big on blogs so I'm not really sure what to write. My profile is a pretty good introduction for me. Basically, I am a drummer and I love Deftones. Oh yeah, and I'm a Civil Engineering student at UC Berkeley. I really enjoy my major and eventually hope to become a structural engineer designing high rise buildings some day. To get to Cal though, I transferred from a community college, which for me was great. I would recommend going to community college first to anyone who is thinking about. It saves money and gives you a little extra time to figure out what you want to do.

Even though I am an engineering student, I do have to take some humanities classes. So last semester, I took an American Poetry class. One of the professor's assignments was to write three poems as an imitation to some of the poems we read in class. I thought I'd post one of mine here and see what you all think. Please let me know whether you love it, like it, or hate it. Keep in mind I am an engineer, so I am not so great at artsy type things, but I try.

Seven Ways of Looking at Lady Luck

I
Children walk home from school and
A glimmer catches ones eye,
"If it's face up it means good luck."

II
I am looking for a place to park my car
At the local shopping center
When I catch her eye in the car facing me.
Hanging from the mirror is a rabbit's foot

III
A man walking alone on a road
Gets splashed by a passing car.
"That's just my luck," he says.

IV
A group of friends walk by a man
Lying on the sidewalk bundled up
In what little he has. "He must
Be down on his luck," remarked one.

V
Fortuna, of the Romans, stands
Looking at all, and all look to her
Standing veiled and blind.

VI
The Earth provides enough fruitage
To provide for every person upon it.
Who wants to rely on fate
When a child goes to bed starving?

VII
He met a girl and married her
Living a long and happy life...
What does luck have to do with it?
