I found my mentor today. We met for coffee on Madison, spoke for over an hour, and then she walked me to work. Her philosophy about patient care echoes the philosophy I grew up with; she considers it the greatest privilege to serve her patients. That is the person I want to emulate. I'm so excited about finally starting down this path. I've been putting all my ducks in a row, and obviously have a lot of hard work ahead of me, but today was wonderful.

A very strange and wonderful person from my past has popped up this week, and I'm excited to see him after 11 years or so. He's sort of the father that my father wasn't. He's the standard every man I've ever cared about has been measured against, and the one I secretly hoped would one day be very proud of me. At this point I'm just glad he's well and that we'll see eachother soon. He's one of those people that doesn't just have a special place in my heart-he has his own little altar with candles and knickknacks (and cobwebs at this point).

I need pretty things to put on my walls, once I repaint. I want to surround myself with space porn. Nebulae sure are lovely from afar.
