Placeholder post. Maybe I'll be more active.

I'm a student again. This time in business. Maybe I'll finish this time.

I'm an idiot, and should really go to the doctor. I hurt my wrist back in June, and for the most part it doesn't hurt anymore.

Except when I put weight on it. Then it hurts a ton. I can't bend it as much as I used to either.

Yeah, I probably need surgery.

Sarah Palin made my brain hurt. They're mavericks!

Happy Birthday to me.

Alright, so bands like to title their songs the same as other songs all the time. Invariably, one is better than the other. Sometimes it's an easy decision, and other times things are more complicated. This is where they throw down. Today's song title? "Too Drunk to Fuck."

In this corner, hailing from Los Angeles, CA. The challenger... BUCKCHERRY!

And in the other corner, from San Francisco, CA. The champeen.... DEAD KENNEDYS!

Now, Dead Kennedys are a pretty seminal band. It's hard to say much bad about them. Buckcherry, on the other hand, is probably one of our worst bands. Their first album is passably decent, and I still really enjoy "For The Movies," but they really pander to the lowest common denominator, don't they?

After listening to both songs, I think it's clear-cut which one is better. I feel like everything about the DK track is superior. The guitar work is more interesting. Jello Biafra is a much more interesting vocalist. And it has a rawer, more urgent sound. Put in your votes, people, but I have a feeling that Buckcherry won't get out of round one.

I'll be sure to pick a more interesting matchup next time. I think I have a good one.

Hey look! It's a new picture of me! The other one was 3-4 years old, so I had to update. It was after a long day of carousing, so my hair is a little extra disheveled and my face is a little reddish. Still, I'm wearing this snazzy shirt and vest combo.

So I got a new camera, so that's good. I'll replace that outdated profile picture as soon as I can take a good one. I'm horrible at taking pictures of myself, or having my picture taken for that matter. I come out ok in candid shots, but if the intent is to get a good picture of me, forget about it.

I just need to hope I can luck into one.

I never know what to write here. I feel like I should write something, and then I end up writing something like this saying I don't know what to write. I had an idea the other day, but now I can't remember what it was. I think it might have had something to do with Sarah Palin, but I'm not sure what, exactly.

Anyway, I'm under 200 lbs., which is huge. I'm gonna go buy a vest soon. Apparently, vests are the hot accessory this fall.

Ah, I thought of something! That stupid Genius thing in the new iTunes. It's frickin' junk. Oh, I'm listening to The Clash? And you think I'd like other stuff by The Clash? Real perceptive, there, Genius. Oh, and you think I'll like the album Marquee Moon by Television? Well, guess what? I do, and it's already in my damn iTunes library!

I understand what Apple is trying to do with it, and they really just want to drive more business to the iTunes store, but it isn't doing what I want it to do. Ideally, I'd like it to expose me to more music that I might not have heard of. I don't need it to tell me that I might like Uncle Tupelo and Son Volt when I'm listening to Wilco. I know that I like Uncle Tupelo and Son Volt, in fact I already have music by them.

Y'know what would work? If instead of just recommending albums and songs, it had a section that recommended artists that one might enjoy. That's all I really care about, being exposed to new artists. But when three quarters of the recommendations are albums and songs by artists I have, but don't own, it bugs me. There's a reason why I don't own some of that stuff already.

A new blog from me? Can it be? It can!

Even though it's been like a year since my last post (sorry!), there's not a heck of a lot of news.

I did start exercising again. That picture up there? Horribly out of date. I've dropped almost 50 pounds this year. Just 20 more to go!
