I like old musicals... "Camelot", "West Side Story"... stuff like that. Even "Paint Your Wagon", Clint Eastwood's first and (to the best of my knowledge) only singing role. I recently discovered that a lot of old stuff is available here and there on the 'net... I'd just never looked before.

So I found some old tracks from "Camelot". But... something was wrong! This isn't how I remembered it! Surely the words didn't go like that... or could my memory really be so bad? Had I really edited my memory so much? Luckily, it turned out that there were multiple versions of Camelot available, from several different theatrical recordings... and I found the "real" one (that is, the one that I remember so well) without too much trouble.

But I had some bad moments, there... just how well do I remember the past? I'll never be as certain as I once was.

Armageddon... another '80s classic rock reference via Gnutella, or the current state of my dissertation? Only the Dean of Grad Studies knows for sure... blackeyed eeek

Things fall apart; the centre cannot hold;
Mere anarchy is loosed upon the world.

There's something fishy about that...

Most people have probably heard about the new anti-terror legislation in the States, whereby anybody, anywhere, can be declared an "enemy combatant", then be held indefinitely without trial, tortured, etc.

I finally figured out the US government's agenda here. You'll recall that they're fond of saying that the terrorists "... hate us because of our freedom."

Their solution is now clear. Simply eliminate all freedoms from the American people (and everybody else)... then the terrorists will no longer have any reason to hate them. Brilliant!!

I just found a dead fruit fly in my drink. Well, at least he died happy.

So... I finally bought one of these trendy IPod things. I like it.

Ever since I bought it, though, I've started thinking about how many people have them (or some similar portable music device). Now I spend all my bus trips wondering what all the people around me are listening to! It's not quite driving me nuts, but it's on my mind a lot. So...

When you're on the bus, what do you listen to on your PMD (portable music device)?

For me, it's mostly classic 80's rock (Queen, Rush, Pink Floyd, etc), or Tchaikovsky (did I spell that right? I'm never sure), or choral music, with Thomas Tallis a standard choice, or (lately), bagpipes (the Simon Fraser University Pipes and Drums, or the 48th Highlanders).

How about you?
