I'm down in Texas for a couple weeks now. I'll be doing my "ZPO saves the day" work again. What I'd really like are the paychecks of the people who aren't doing their jobs that make these trips necessary. Now THAT would definitely make me happier about getting bounced all over the country on 1 day notice.
In this world there's two kinds of people. Those with loaded guns and those who dig.

Ahh.. back home. A couple nights in my own bed before I head out again. Only one screamer on the flight and that one was several rows back. I had an emergency exit row window seat with an open seat next to me. I consider that a very good flight. 
Unfortunately, I didn't have time to do any sightseeing while I was in San Diego. I met up with a guy I worked with in Baghdad and his wife. We went to a really nice restaurant on the edge of Montgomery Airport called something like "94th Aero Squadron". There wasn't much GA traffic that late in the day, but the food was outstanding. I highly recommend the place.
Off to do laundry, cook dinner, burn some map DVDs, and generally catch up on all the home admin stuff I've skipped out on for the last week. One of the things about living along - everything is exactly where you left it when you come back.

Made it to San Diego. The two kids with their parents sitting right next to and behind me were impeccably behaved. There was only one screamer on the plane. I consider that a very good flight.
I realized coming in that the last time I was in San Diego was 1989 when I came back for MCT. The USS Midway is here as a museum shiip so expect to be subjected to ship pictures before I leave.

Off to San Diego tomorrow. I'm going for work and I'll only be there a week. With luck I can still find time for at least a little fun.

I've posted this before, but I'll post it again for Memorial Day. Someday I won't have any new names to whisper a thanks to on Memorial Day. I long for that year.
